First off, lets get this on the table; this is one of the actual cars used in the movie “Crank” featuring non-other than Jason Statham. Movie cars are becoming increasingly hard to get from the studios, with many of them ending up in high dollar charity auctions. It is even harder to acquire movie cars that are actually a character in a movie. High profile “character” cars are at the top of most collectors list.

This 1972 Buick “Boattail” Riviera was purchased for the movie Crank along with a twin. The stunt car is still on a lot at the studio, with movie frontend damage while this one did NOT suffer any damage during filming and is California titled, currently registered and driven daily!!!!

This Buick is as much of a character in this movie as Jason himself!! Ted Moser of Picture Car Warehouse built the Buicks for the movie.  The wheel and tire combination really sets this Riviera apart from the rest, and gives it a real aggresive and tough look!

The car was used in the television series “Life” where it had a darker brown top. The color of the car is as it was in the movie “Crank” and also as seen in “Life” with the lighter top being put back on so that it is as it was in the Movie “Crank”!

Condition:

This car is great condition. It is titled and registered and has been used as a daily driver commuting approx 40 miles a day over the last two months. The car was purchased and completely gone through to make it super road worthy. It has a new water pump, new radiator, new A/C compressor, new condenser (the air blows cold!!!), new exhaust magnaflow mufflers.  The car is a great driver that you can hop in and cruise now or park at your business to increase traffic! There are not many muscle cars out that that can boast the ability run cool to commute in bumper to bumper LA traffic with ease! The top is in great shape, the new paint is a few months old and does have some water base paint hazing on the drivers side. The interior is in pretty good shape, the rear package tray is excellent, the seats are good with normal wear, the only thing to note is the dash has cracks, but is covered with a dash mat and the steering wheels has some minor wear. Jason Statham and the movie “Crank” go hand in hand. In the movie, hit-man Chev Chelios is poisoned by the criminal Verona and his friend and doctor Miles advises him that he must keep his adrenaline in an upper level to stay alive.

That is why Chev chose the Buick, because nothing gets your blood pumping like an awesome Riviera with a 455 motor!!!

With only a limited run (1971-1973) Boattail's have a messed quite a collector following. A sensational new Riviera  debuted for 1971. A large car  with a boattailed rear roof  and window section  and sweeping  side sculpture greeted 1971's Riviera  customers. Wheelhouses  were wide open  after a year of  skirted fenders.  Riviera shared Full-Flo ventilation  with other Buicks and had the louvers on  the deck lid.  Standard  features  were numerous  and  included heater and defroster; Custom padded contoured seats; deep pile carpeting; electric  clock; smoking  set; head restraints; new seat  belt system; inside hood lock release; variable power steering; TurboHydramatic; power front disk brakes and dual exhausts.
