Up for bid is my 1963 Buick Special Deluxe. I had intentions of restoring the car, but alas I lost my job and I no longer have the funds to do so, plus I need money for overdue bills! These cars aren't too common, and they are rare to see, even at car shows. Everyone that sees the car compliments it and wonders why they aren't more popular!

She is equipped with the ever popular 215 All-Aluminum Fireball V8, that makes 155hp with the 2bbl carb. It has the 2 speed Dual-Path Turbine Drive automatic transmission. Best of all, it's mostly original and untouched!

The Good -

Carburetor was rebuilt in January 2009 with all new parts inside, including a float.
Runs great, BUT has a lifter tap at startup, but goes away after warming up.
Doesn't burn oil, no leaks from what I see, doesn't leave any spots on the ground.
Engine is numbers matching, as seen in the picture.
All glass is in excellent condition.

Most all the chrome except the bumpers, door handles and grille are in good condition.
Body is mostly solid, but does have some rust issues. I will address them in the bad list.
Looks to have a stainless steel exhaust all the way back.
There is zero rocker rust.
I believe the trunk floor is mostly solid, I haven't found any rust-through.
Included is a $110 Seal Kit for the transmission from Northwest Transmission

The Bad -
-There is  some rust on the windshield corners, some of it is through and there is some body filler. I noticed in my search for parts off parts cars, most all of them have this problem. A good bodyman that has experience with leading should be able to take care of this.
-There is some rust on the front fenders, and some mud in the driver's side fender. The other rust is in the water channel behind the front wheels. This is yet another common spot for rust as leaves, pine needles and such make it past the intake screen on the cowl and clog up the water channels, rusting them.
-All the doors have rust around the seams, this is as easy as grinding the rust off and applying new seam sealer to the seams.
-There is some rust under the taillights, some was repaired at one time.
-There is some rust on the rear wheelwells, not much but some was repaired with mud at one time, as well as some spots on the rear quarters.
-There is a very small amount of rust near the corner of the back window.
-The front floors have rust holes, luckily the floors are flat and can easily be repaired. The rear floors are solid.
-There are various surface rust spots on the car, as seen in the pictures.
-The transmission suffered a tailshaft seal leak, killing the transmission's clutches. I have the original transmission, taken apart in pieces, as well as a complete spare transmission that can be used for parts or reference....iit may even work with some fluid, filter and the included seal kit.
-The master cylinder loses fluid, not sure where, but in a week or so, it's gone.
-The bumpers, grille and door handles need rechromed.
-2 of the interior doorpanels are removed to diagnose a window crank problem, front was found to be the track fell off the window, and the back driver's is a stripped mechanism.
-The hubcaps shown on the car are NOT included in the auction.
-Someone had cut the radio hole to put in a newer head unit, I do have the original Buick Sonomatic AM radio.

-Needs carpet, and interior work to various things, as well as a paint job after the body work, and it will be a truly great car.

This vehicle is being sold AS IS, with no warranties or guarantees implied, what you see is what you get. I believe I was as truthful as possible, and I believe I pointed out everything that is wrong with the car. Please contact me if you have any questions about the car. Thanks, and good luck!

Car IS listed with NO reserve, but the car is for sale outside of eBay as well, and if it sells outside of eBay, I reserve the right to end the auction.

On Nov-02-09 at 22:40:25 PST, seller added the following information:

I was asked some questions by a few people. I will gladly add them here so people can see them. 1. No, this is not the original color. The original color was a baby blue color. The paint job on it is a amateur job, and isn't very good, but not completely terrible. 2. Some have noticed there are some trim pieces missing around the windows. Do not fret, I do have them and they are in the trunk. I removed them to look for rust. 3. The original transmission that is in pieces is removed from the engine, and in the trunk in pieces. I was told it was all there, but I cannot say that it is all there. 4. The spare transmission did in fact have red fluid in the pan, and didn't seem to be burnt. There was very little sediment, it was around the normal amount you would find in a pan.

On Nov-06-09 at 17:42:05 PST, seller added the following information:

I figured I would add a little bonus in. If the auction reaches $1000, I will throw in a Citizen Elegance Signature watch. It is VERY nice, almost new aside from one small nick/scratch on the outer ring near the glass. The glass is not scratched. All it will need is a new battery. Pictures of the watch -

Please note - If the auction does not reach $1000 before 12 hours is left, the auction will be ended as I have a offer outside of eBay, but the eBay buyers are top priority first only if the auction reaches $1000.

Please wait
