This Cadillac Eldorado Indy 500 Pace Festival Convertible is presented in its original exterior color of Cotillion White and highly complimented with Royal Red Leather Seating and Carpets throughout. For those of you who may not be aware, the 1973 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible paced the Indianapolis 500. There were 53 Cadillac Eldorado Pace Cars delivered and used at the track in 1973. Two of the 53 Eldorado Convertibles were highly modified High-Speed Pace Cars and were not street legal. The remaining 51 Pace Cars were used at the track and took part in the 500 Festival Parade as well as the Indianapolis 500 Opening Ceremonies and Parade Laps. All bore a circular "500" Logo on the rear quarter panel behind the front door. Only 45 of the 53 Pace Cars had the "Festival Rear Center Bar" bumper option with the integral flag mounts. This particular 1973 Cadillac Eldorado Pace car is documented to be #18 of the 53 track cars. This is documented by the Cadillac-LaSalle Club Inc. who holds and documents registries specifically for all years and models of Cadillac and LaSalle Automobiles and is considered by the industry to be the most complete and accurate registry world wide in the documentation of Cadillac and LaSalle Automobiles. This Cadillac Eldorados VIN# is listed in the Cadillac-LaSalle Club Authenticity Manual as car #18. This Eldorado bears the official Pace Car decals, the circular "500" logo, and the rear center bar and flags. Jim Rathman, the previous years Indy 500 winner, drove the car that paced the race in 1973. Records indicate that this #18 Car was assigned to driver Donald J. Atwood during the race dates. Following the race this car was turned over to Tutweiler Cadillac in Indianapolis. As of 2005 only 14 of the 53 Pace Cars have been located and accounted for making this and the other 13 known Pace Cars very rare. This 1973 Eldorado Pace Car has spent its whole life in the Indianapolis area and has had only 2 to 3 private owners and we do know that it was stored from 1977 thru 2006.The miles are 63,536 and are believed to be actual. This Eldorado Pace Car has undergone a faithful ground up restoration by a native Hoosier and Indy 500 enthusiast. Meticulous attention has been paid to detail and authenticity. All decals and body stripes have been redone to judging specifications buy the same firm that makes the decals for the Indy 500 Motor Speedway.
