1969 Chevrolet Camaro CAMARO
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This is an extremely rare car. It has been restored with driving it in mind. It is a true X11 coded RS car. Nothing faked or cloned, The trim tag shows "special paint" and code C blue vinyl top with code 715 blue interior. Car has 5th week of January 1969 build date. This was a special order car due to the special paint. There is a lot of data to support some of this cars rarity. Lets look at a few: RS option...15.5 percent of the total production were RS optioned in 69 Blue Interior....8 percent of the total production were blue interior Special Paint...1.5 percent were special paint cars Blue vinyl top..No data exist to support the number of blue vinyl top cars. However its rare enough, and the demand so low this is the one part not available thru the aftermarket. The top on my car is NOS Levant grain vinyl that I chased down and had the top manufactured. Carolina Blue..No data exist as to the number of Carolina Blue cars. I have personally only ever seen one other. I have heard of 4 or 5 more. When you look at the entire package, RS option, Carolina Blue special paint, blue interior and blue vinyl top this may be the only car ever produced in this particular combination. Thats sort of incredible when you think about the almost quarter million Camaros produced in 69. The engine is a CE code 3970010 350. The CE code indicates its most likely a warranty replacement and the 1970 date code supports this as well. A warranty replacement is as close as you can get to numbers matching without being numbers matching. the engine is brand new having logged about 1500 miles since the car was completed. My wife and i drive this car every chance we get in nice weather. The motor sounds great and makes good power. The transmission is also newly rebuilt with the same mileage as the engine. The transmission is an M20 muncie with the correct 69 shifter and handle. Tranny is not original to the car. 10 bolt single leaf rear end and drum brakes all around. Brakes were rebuilt at the same time engine and tranny were. You could drive this car home no matter where you live. The wheels are 15x7 AG code Corvette running BFG ta radials. These are 1968 only wheels that allow a wide trim ring to run on 7 inch wheels. They give you the wide look without sticking out too far. They also allow the car to handle like it should. These are awesome wheels and everything is new. The centers are disc brake flat caps. These are the perfect wheels for the first generation Camaro in my opinion. I also have a set of chrome Chip Foose Nitrous Classics in 17x9 and 17x8 running 245/45/17 and 255/45/17 G-Force ta tires that are new if someone wanted them instead. The Foose wheels are awesome, but look too "new school" for my old taste. They have 4-1/2 inch backspacing on the 8's and 5 inch backspacing on the 9's. They have been on the car and fit with no clearance issues. I drove the car 4 miles from the tire store and took them off. Thats all they were run. This car also has tilt steering and rosewood wheel (reproduction) but looks great. The entire interior is new. I mean all..I even replaced the sunvisor mounts and rear view mirror..door handles and window cranks all new..all new weather strips and fuzzies. reproduction correct floor mats. The radio is new and made specifically for the 69 Camaro. It even has a 100 watt pioneer speaker in the factory location using the speaker and mount from Ricks. The gage plastic faces are new, as are the pedal pads. Sill plates are new. Door strikers etc. The windshield wipers are the reproduction stainless units. All the exterior moldings/bezels/handles etc are new. Grille and headlight chrome are all new. Front spoiler is new with the correct 3 brackets. Both bumpers are new. Quarter panels and trun floor are original to the car..The front Floor pans have been replaced sometime in its life..The vinyl top moulding is new..The rear window and windshield moulding were sent out and professionally polished. Paint is base coat/clear coat color sanded and buffed. The car is really slick and you must see it in person to appreciate the combination. This is an exceptional car and an extremely rare example of the 1969 Camaro. Its Restored beautifully as a show driver quality car. I have seen really ratty cars over the years with nice paint jobs being referred to as restored. I dont want to over evaluate my car, but dont want to sell it short either. In my personal opinion a "restored" car should look like it did when new. My car comes close to that in many respects, but was built to drive. For this reason, i open the headlights manually. Hell, i dont ever open them at all. My car is above average under the hood. Its a blast to drive and own. I have to explain the dash on the cowl tag to almost everyone who sees it, and no has ever seen one in this color. If the car sells, i am happy. If it doesnt i am happy also. I love the car, but I have a convertible itch. If you have any questions, I can be reached at 336-428-3923 (cell).. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
