Please read in its entirety: FUN-FUN-FUN…Up for auction is my 1970 SS El Camino 454 tribute. I have owned this vehicle for 4 years and I've loved every minute of it. I’m not sure if it’s a true SS and even real SS’s are hard to prove out so I’m listing this one as not an SS but could be. I’ve taken great care in its maintenance that I performed myself and used quality replacement parts and fluids. As like all my cars at each oil change I add a bottle of Prolong or Dura-lube additive. I’ve put less then 1000 miles on this car since I’ve owned it but I did change to oil once. The title is 100% clear and in hand plus the vehicle is registered in Arizona thru January 2010. The information stated below is true and to the best of my knowledge and I encourage any and all questions prior to anyone bidding on this vehicle. I want the buyer to be happy with this purchase as I have been with no surprises and will answer any and all questions the same day. I pride myself on my response…check my feedback! I didn't detail the information by nut and bolt but more in generality so if you need more information please ask! The reason I’m selling this is to make room for my GTO and for no other reason. I know the car and I know the worth so I won’t be making any crazy deals. No Trades Please unless it’s for a 3000 square foot house in a good part of the Phoenix area on at least an acre of land. Like I said I’m trying to make room for the GTO.
Now to the good stuff! SERIOUSLY……..
Interior: Color- Black. Monte Carlo wood grain dash face. Stock tilt steering column w/SS steering wheel. Stock cloth bench seat believed to be original to the car, bench that is. The seat was recovered recently before I bought it and due to the lack of use since I’ve had it, it still looks new. Dash pad and door panels are in good shape. The dash pad is the original and has a single hairline crack in it that is “closed” and is hardly noticeable. The air vents are loose due to age I’m guessing and is a normality for cars of this age. The arm rests and “A” pillars were recovered when I bought the car. The carpet is in great shape but is aftermarket. I’ve always wanted to install original loop carpet but never got to it. Hurst 4 speed stick and “T” handle. CD stereo. I hate the fact that someone cut the dash face + there’s no external speakers for it and it looks to be hooked up only to the dash speaker. The stereo was cut in before I bought the car. This car came with no air conditioning however a retro kit costs about $1,500 or so if you wish to add A/C.
Exterior: The black with white “painted” stripes shines and is approximately 4 years old 8.5 out of 10 but should be considered “Driver” quality. The picture don't do it any justice. Ignore the sunspotting and glare in the photo's they were caused by the camera and are not in the paint. I never take this car out except for special occasions. Cowl hood. SS and Cowl Induction badges nice and shiny. All chrome is it great condition and should be considered near perfect. SS wheels correct to the year of the car. All trim and center caps with tires that have 80% tread left. The bed has a Rhino liner and looks real good with new bed rail trim.
Performance: Non-matching oval port 454 Runs like a top with no unpleasant surprises (FAST-FAST-FAST). Vintage is early 70’s. Polished Edelbrock performer intake and 750 carb. Starts right up and has powerful acceleration w/no pre-ignition. Chrome 100amp single wire alternator. The cam currently in the car is a stock type lift and duration and performs nicely. I have a Competition Cams “hi-energy” 274 (552-555 lift) cam that comes with the car. I may install it just to feel the engines true potential. If I don’t install it and the winning buyer would like it installed I will do it at no extra cost if the car sells at the BIN. Also included (see pics) and still in the box are cam, gear drive, lifters, rebuild gasket set, Sun tach, triple gauges. A used set of Edelbrock Elite valve covers are also included. They came with the car but I preferred the stock look and installed original type covers pictured. I know I can sell all of this for more separately but I bought it all intended for this car. The ignition is an HEI unit. The cooling system has both stock driven and electric fans. I’ve driven this car in the Arizona summer and it has never overheated on me or complained. Power steering pump has a hose that drips. Battery probably has 75 starts to its name and is approx 2 years old.
Transmission is a close ratio manual 4-speed and shifts good through all the gears.
Rear ratio is low at 4:11. These were installed when I bought the car. The rear makes no noise. If I was to drive it more I’d drop the ratio to 3:55 or so but since it’s given me no problems I left it alone.
Chassis: Stock- The steering is tight, and steers straight as an arrow. The ride is smooth through all gears and speeds. It does have traction bars that do help due to the lighter rear end. The brakes are stock front disc and rear drum that perform as they should.
The El Camino can be inspected by appointment weekdays after 5pm or anytime on weekends as well. I will be selling this locally and reserve to end the auction early. Buyers with any negatives or a score less then 10 with no large purchases over $2000 please contact me before bidding. Thanks
PAYMENT/SHIPPING DETAILS: However well this car looks and drives it is considered used and is advertised in this auction as nothing less. No warranty is available or implied and the purchase is as-is. Serious bidders only please, if you can't pay for it, don't bid- it’s not fair to the Ebayer’s that really took the auction seriously. Once you’ve won you’re bound to complete the transaction. Any failure to do so will result in a negative feedback and litigation. If you're not sure about something, please ask. I will answer all email regarding this vehicle and will take additional pictures of certain items if asked. Buyers with any recent none settled negatives or a score less then 10 please contact me before bidding. I require $500 non-refundable deposit within 24 hours of the close of the auction, and the balance due within 7 days via cashiers check. If the payment isn’t made per these terms the car will go back up for sale. The vehicle understandably cannot be released until all funds have cleared. I also welcome all pre-purchase inspections. Buyer is responsible for all shipping cost. I will gladly assist with shipping from Phoenix, Arizona. Meaning the making myself available for the loading and can give additional direction detail to your carrier or meet the carrier near my home. I would also assist with picking up the buyer if from out of state form Sky Harbor Airport Phoenix. Thank you for viewing my auction!
