This is an original 1970 SS396 (not a clone). It is also an original Cortez Silver car.

I am a dealer, but this is my personal car. I have had it since 2006. I sold my two Camaros first, because I planned to keep this Chevelle. But.. I drive it 5 miles once a month and I think I want to buy something else. It is always in a climate controlled garage, and I am particular about my cars.

This car is wicked fast, lots of low end torque, and will still cruise the interstate at 80mph.

Body – The car was stripped and restored in 2006. No filler used – placed new front fender, front wheel wells, and driver quarter. New bumpers and moldings.  Old paint stripped and base coat clear coat applied. New SS wheels  with newer Br Goodrich T/A 215/70 14’s. There is no rust under the car and the paint is in very good condition.

Engine- 396 Ci engine bored .040 over to 410 CI. Has 101 cc closed chamber heads.  New Keith Black Pistons. (9.8:1)  Comp cams 274 cam, lifters, push rods, and valve springs. 2.18/1.88 Stainless steel valves, 1.72 Magnum roller tip rockers, Crane double roller timing chain, Melling HV oil pump, oversized Moroso oil pan with windage tray. Edelbrock intake, Holly 770 carb, MSD billet distributor, Powerhouse  performance starter, Edelbrock aluminum water pump.  Engine was rebuilt from carb to pan.  All new Dynomax ceramic coated headers, 2 ½” exhaust pipes, Flowmasters, and cross overs.

Drive Train- Was improved by placing a $3300 CALIFORNIA PERFORMANCE TRANSMISSION  200-4R (built by Art Carr) with a Shiftworks shifter conversion.   This tranny has overdrive and is a super highway cruiser.  It also has a 12 bolt positraction rear end with a Richmond 3:73 gear set.

The suspension is solid with a new KYB shocks, new PST bushings in front end, new front disk and rear drum brakes.  New Hydra-tech power brake booster with new master cylinder.

Interior- New front buckets and rear seat, door panels, new windshield, and the car has been fitted with a new alarm system and auto door locks. There is an after market stereo CD system with and amp hidden under the passenger seat.

All of the above is fresh with less than 2000 miles on the mechanics and maybe 50 on the body and paint. Very solid and drives straight. (power steering). Not the usual rattles.. this car is tight. Someone will own a very nice Chevelle.

The car is very nice.. but not perfect. The reserve is set accordingly. I highly  recommend inspecting the car in person. Or, have the local Chevy dealer check it over for you for a fee. I would be more than happy to do a walk-around of the car if you call. I can help set up the shipping as I have done it many times before.
