You are bidding on an absolutely gorgeous 1964 Malibu Convertible Resto-Mod. The original west coast car was frame off restored and finished approximately a year and a half ago at a build cost of $65,000 and has very few miles since completion. This is a show quality car and is ready to be driven and shown. This was done with an original look with tasteful modifications for a perfect blend of original and hot rod.
The body is super clean. As you will notice, the front clip is from a 1965 Malibu. The owner liked the style of the 65 better and since he was unable to find a solid 65 convertible, he used the 65 items on this 64 for the look. The rear quarters are slightly widened and the rear wheel wells are mini tubbed to squeeze some wider tires in without going full pro-street. The panels are smooth and straight. She was painted back to its original color of Desert Beige. The underside is clean and painted black. There is no rust showing. The chrome was replaced and the trim is in great condition. The body and paint are real nice and shows well.
The interior is fully restored back to its original Fawn Beige color. The seats were done in leatherette. The door panels are new as well as the carpet. The dash is painted nicely with factory gauges in place and Autogage water, volts and oil gauges under the dash to monitor the engines vitals. Also under the dash is a tissue box. The power convertible top is done in the correct beige and looks new. The stereo in this car is incredible. The owner just spent $5000 on the system and it is all quality components. In the glove box is a Sony Xplod AM/FM/CDSirius/MP3/WMA head unit with remote. Under the front seats is a pair of Pioneer speakers. Inside the finished off carpeted trunk is 4500 watts of crystal clear amps and speakers. All of those components are Mobil Spec amps with MS 12” subs and 6 6” round speakers. The install is super clean with all wires tucked away nicely. The battery was upgraded to a Kinetik HC1800 model to handle the stereo amps. It’s truly impressive to see and hear. All of the components are removable from the trunk with no holes drilled.
Now if that wasn’t enough to entice your ears, the tune of the 396 big block engine will. The engine is built to L78 375hp specs. The carburetor is a Holley and the intake manifold is a correct factory aluminum HP manifold. Its detailed back to what it would look like if it were factory done with GM hoses and correct over spray. This car runs great with a lot of power. Backing up the engine is a Muncie M-21 close ratio 4-speed. Finishing off the drivetrain is a 12-bolt rear with street gears so you can cruise at highway speeds. The rear is held in place with a 4-link set up. The front suspension was also redone and set down a little bit for the right stance and attitude. She has power steering and power disc brakes with cross drilled and slotted rotors up front. This car runs and drives as good as it looks.
