1978 Chevrolet El Camino Super Sport

Dropped price again... Im moving this weekend and i really need to see this truck go, as much as I hate to. If interested send me your best offer, we can try to work something out. This is my 1978 Chevy El Camino Super Sport. In 1978 they only made a handful of the Super Sports, usually you see the later 80s with the dual headlights. First ill tell you whats wrong: Needs a little bit of bodywork. There are some rust around rear wheel wells and two rust holes in rear quarter panel. Tailgate is also dented. There is a little bit of surface rust from sitting still and therefore it will probably need a brake job, or at least have the rotors recut in the front. The truck ran when I parked it in the driveway about five months ago but it had some overheating issues. I dont know what it is because I never looked into it. I got sidetracked with my new truck and didnt have time or money for this one. I was planning on just pulling the motor and dropping in a 350 anyways, but this is the original 305ci V8 that this truck came with. It wasnt leaking any coolant and there was always some in the resevoir and the radiator, so it could be something stupid like the thermostat. There is also a few little trim pieces that are missing around the headlights/grille area and it could probably use a new grille. Mileage is not correct, I put in a new digital speedo so it is different. The listed mileage is an estimate. Reasons Im selling: Need money to fix my new truck and pay off the loan for my new truck, and Im moving NEXT WEEKEND (OCT 31) Id like to find a new good home for this car/truck before then. Now the goodies: Exterior: The two front fenders are new New 2" Steel Cowl hood by Goodmark Set of Black Soft 8 Cragar Rims With Cooper Cobra Radial GT Tires, mounted and balanced with the raised white lettering and hidden stick on wheel weights for a cleaner look. The front rims are 15x8 and tires are 235/60R15, rear rims are 15x10 and tires are 295/50R15. Has a nice staggered and blacked out look to it. Paint on bedliner by Herculiner Soft Tonneau cover Trailer Hitch New Windshield Outline of the Boston Skyline across the rear window. Underhood/car: Edelbrock Performer Intake Edelbrock Performer 600cfm Carb - could probably use a rebuild but I have the rebuild kit for it. Chrome Edelbrock Valve Covers with blue wing nut extended bolts. 14" Chrome Edelbrock Air Cleaner. I replaced the Distributor assembly, all spark plugs and wires. Battery is less than two years old, but will need to be jumped since it was sitting for several months I put on a fresh coat of old GM Blue paint on the Engine when I first got the truck. It still looks good, just a little dirty Wolo brand Dixieland Horn (like the General Lee). Custom full true dual exhaust. Stainless Steel pipes, Flowmaster mufflers and nice chrome tips angled out behind the rear wheels Chrome Transmission Pan with a drain plug. It has the Chevy Logo on it and says THM350. B&M Stage 2 Shift Improver Kit. This is the best one you can get with out completely rebuilding the transmission, probably the best one to have for a street car/daily driver. B&M Vacuum modulator on tranny. Transmission has been bulletproof for me so far. Have replaced Front shocks and coil springs Replaced tie rods, inner, outers and sleeves on both sides Front brakes were done about 5K miles ago. Interior: Comfy bench seats split 40 driver/60 passenger. B&M Light truck Megashifter. It has a ratchet mechanism for the drive gears which works great. Between this shifter and the Shift kit you can make it the truck move nice. Grant GT Series Performance Steering Wheel. Nordskog Digital Dash/Instrument Cluster. When the truck is off, it appears to just be a black panel. But when you turn it on everything lights up. It is an ice blue color with Digital readouts and display. It has Oil Pressure, Water Temp, Volts and Fuel Level and then the Tachometer and Speedometer. It cost like $500 but it looks awesome. Sound system: MTX Thunder Series Subwoofers - 2 10" in custom made boxes to fit in the spare tire area behind the seats. Also MTX Thunder Series 600watt amp on a custom platform that fits over the driveline hump inbetween the two sub boxes. Amp has a remote gain control mounted under the cd player. CD player is a Pioneer. It has an Ipod Hookup and a whole bunch of ways to play around with the sound equalizers to optimize the sounds for the songs (it is a pioneer afterall). that cd player was almost $300 new. 2 6x9 Sony Xplod speakers in seperate boxes behind the seats. Wiring for the amp and subs was Rockford Fosgate i believe. Windows were all tinted but the front two windows are peeling a little bit around the bottoms. There are a bunch of extra parts for this truck that i have. Like the extra set of rims, theres an inner wheel well for it, a complete NEW wiring harness from summit, and the bed chrome trim (i took it off when i put the bedliner and tonneau cover on) and some of the interior trim i took out when working on it. There are probably some various other little things i have for it as well. The picture from drivers point of view is to show the shifter and stereo head unit. There is a different steering wheel and instrument cluster as noted above. The stereo system was about $800 for the parts, the Cragars and Coopers set up was a little over $800. The wheels include Chrome center caps with the CRAGAR logo on them and a set of McGard lug nuts with a locking lug nut for each wheel. Ive put a lot of my time and money and hours into fixing this car up. I hate to have to sell it but my new truck needs work and I have no storage for it anymore, and it really needs to go to a good home. This truck is available for local pickup only at this time please. It would have to be towed away because of the overheating problem as mentioned, also because it is currently unregistered.. But you might want to bring another truck or something to help carry the extra parts home. I just put good used tires with plenty of tread on the other set of rims (NOT the Cragars). These rims are a little rusty looking but are perfect for transport/storage and winter driving. The rear rims are 15x8 and the fronts are 15x7. The truck has all the light assemblies on it. I know a couple of the pics one of the corner lights is missing, but it is currently installed. Just a few of the trim pieces are missing as noted above. All the lenses are there. And it has the black header panel installed, not the white one. But there is a crack in it as noted above, you may be able to repair it if you are good at body work/ fiberglass work. I will consider selling it for less without the sound system, although it was built specifically for this truck so if your planning on getting one yourself you might as well just buy it all.
