$1.00 STARTING BID, NO RESERVE!!! WOW!!! WHAT A CLASSIC! 1974 Citroen DS D-Special. 4-speed manual transmission. 98,164 original miles. I am the 3rd owner since new. Original dark blue exterior with new gray cloth interior, headliner and new black carpets. Brand new tires! The car is currently registered, insured and runs like a clock! The hydro-pneumatic suspension works perfectly and the car "floats" like magic! With the engine running and the raising of a four-position selector lever, this beauty mysteriously rises to whatever ride height you wish! Drive it as a low-rider, or high up for obstacle clearance! I have included a series of side profile pictures showing the ride height sequence starting at the lowest setting and ending at the maximum ride height setting. For those in the know, this is a "green fluid" car and has only had Castrol LHM fluid in the system since new. The brakes are absolutely amazing and the car self-levels as it should. The suspension functions properly at all ride height settings and yes, it is capable of driving on only three wheels. (I read about it, saw the Youtube videos, and tried it myself :-)) If you haven't seen the Chips video on Youtube, check it out. Search Chips Citroen . The 4-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly, and the clutch works fine with plenty of life left. The original spare tire, hand crank starter (yes, you can crank start the engine with your hand instead of using jumper cables), and LHM fluid bottle with fluid are present in the engine bay. The original owner's handbook is still present in the glove box. I am including a modern Haynes repair manual with the car. The heater and all interior electric components function properly, including the dome lamps on the door pillars. Engine oil has been changed every 3,000 miles since new and a spare oil filter comes with the car. The car has an optional air conditioning system that is partially installed, but it needs a compressor and freon charge to function. I have enjoyed driving the Citroen, and I can truly say it is THE most comfortable car I've ever owned or ridden in! The engineering principles employed when designing this car continue to amaze me. The gas mileage is great and it has proven to be a reliable driver! As you can tell from the pictures, the exterior of the car needs some love. The paint is all original, never touched up, but car has some rust areas on the bottom of the doors, trunk, miscellaneous small areas, and a dent on the driver's side passenger door (see pictures). Initially, I was going to have the car painted black and put dark tint on the windows to make it look sinister like the Citroen in the Mazzy Star video, but after enjoying and appreciating the car, I decided to leave it original until it could be properly restored. Since I have owned the Citroen, it has been stored inside my aircraft hangar. Unfortunately, I must make room for other novelties that I can't possibly live without, so the Citroen must find a new home. I hope it goes to someone who will enjoy it as much as I have, and restore this classic's exterior properly. The inside is already done, and the car is fine mechanically. It just needs cosmetics to bring it back to it's full glory. The car has a clean Florida title in my name, and a bill of sale will be provided with the title at time of transaction. The car can be registered as an "antique" and the antique registration/insurance is dirt cheap! I pay only $115 per year through Condon and Skelly insurance company, full coverage, so it's an inexpensive "second car" to have as a hobby or enjoyment. All of the original keys for the car are present, and the locks work properly. Every time I drive the car, people smile and ask questions. Everyone wants to go for a ride! Everyone is amazed when the car mysteriously "levitates" like a UFO when the engine starts!
