This item ends at 5 minutes to 9 PM ( Eastern Time ) November 8th.  Good Luck!

Up for bids, with no reserve, is a 1997 Dodge Ram 3500 Extended Cab Truck, with the Cummins 5.9 Turbo diesel, SLT Laramie Package with all the options. Power everything.  Runs great, as she is my daily driver. Its a standard shift, 5 speed, dually, with lots and lots of goodies and mods ( She easily has 600 ft/lbs of torque ).  The only reason I am selling this truck is that I need money for a down payment on land.  I am a straightforward seller here on ebay, my 1000 + positive feedback proves that.  If you win the truck and it does not meet your expectations when you come to pick it up, I will refund your down payment and go the next highest bidder.  No questions asked.  This is a great truck, but is not a show truck by any means.  I'm not selling it as new, as it is a used truck.  Please bid accordingly.  Yes this truck does have an extra 50 gallon fuel tank strapped in the bed, so you can burn either pump diesel, or WVO ( Vegetable Oil ).  I'll get into those specifics later.

Please as you read, feel free to email me with any all questions you may have.  If you want to come and look at the truck, it is located in Greenville, PA 16125  This truck has EXCELLENT POWER.  It will through you back in the seat when you take off if you lay into it.  If you'd like to talk to me directly about the truck, email me your phone number, and I will call you on our magic jack line, its free for me to call anywhere in the USA.

If you are from out of state, and want to fly into either the Pittsburgh or Cleveland Airport, I will pick you up at no extra cost.  One way coach flights are pretty cheap.

Now to the truck.  This hauler is originally out of Texas.  She is as clean as a whistle underneath.  No RUST...  Again, NO RUST.  She was built to haul over the road, and does that quite well.  I have my CDL and pulled small trailers and campers with her this summer.  I pulled a 21 foot trailer loaded with arcade games to TX and back this summer, with no issues.  There is no way you could do all the work that has been done to this truck, for what I'm asking for it.  I have about 50 pictures of this truck, please email me if you would like additional pictures.

Specs:
  • 1997 Dodge Ram 3500 SLT Laramie
  • Current State of Pennsylvania Saftey Inspection Good Through June of 2010
  • 5 Speed
  • Extended Cab/Club Cab with seat in back
  • 229,000 Miles ( I've seen many of these trucks with upwards of 500,000 miles on them and still going strong! )
  • Dually
  • Tires have good tread on them
  • GVW 10,500
  • Reese Brake Controller ( Can control up to a triple axle trailer )
  • 2x4
  • Fresh Paint about 25,000 miles ago( Ok paint job, not the best, chips, scratches, and dings here and there, it does look better in the pictures than it does in person, but this a great looking truck! Left front fender does have some scratching and a small ding as pictured.  I do have about 1/2 gallon of the paint that was used on this truck, and it is included with the auction )
  • Brush Guard On the Front of the Truck
  • Reese Hitch on Rear & 5 th wheel ball in the bed
  • 8 foot bed, with fiberglass cap
  • 22 MPG empty on the highway!!!!
  • 18 mpg towing a trailer
  • Stereo: Cadence CD Player ( Cost 200 dollars )  It has the hook up to run Ipod and/or Satellite Radio.  Also has many RCA outs for running amps, and subs.  Many options here and it sounds Great.
  • Panasonic 4 Way 6x9 Speakers in the Doors ( 120 dollars )  Dual 5 1/4 Speakers Behind the Seats ( 50 Dollars )
  • Black Seat Covers on driver and passenger side, as seats do have wear and tears.

Engine and Mods:  All of the following done in the last 35,000 miles.

The engine was built for good power, and longevity.  Nothing was done that may result in decreasing engine life.
  • 16.5 Degrees of Timing Advance ( More power and better mileage than stock timing )
  • 330 HP Injectors
  • #12 Fuel Plate
  • Injection Pump is Stock
  • Large 2001 HX35 Holset Turbo with 16mm housing for faster spool ups ( google the specs and the amount of air flow this puts out )
  • 2 Good Batteries by Deka. 1020 Cranking Amps Each
  • 3" to 4" to 5" Downpipe from the turbo
  • 5" In exhaust the length of the truck, that then splits into duals, with 6" Chrome Tips
  • 3 Piece ATS aftermarket exhaust manifold ( 484 dollars in jeggs )
  • Fuel Filter Relocation Kit ( 250 dollars ) This is the chrome piece you see on the engine. It moves the fuel filter from back on the firewall where it is hard to reach, to right out in the open.
  • Engine pulled at 195,000 miles and slightly over-sized marine head gasket was installed and engine painted.
  • Complete Clutch Replacement.  Replaced stock clutch with heavy duty clutch rated at 900 ft/lbs torque, and through out bearing replaced also
  • New 4th gear installed in the transmission and 5th gear update
  • KDP done ( killer dow pin )
  • 4 Wheel Alignment
  • Rebuilt Starter
  • Alternator rebuilt, bearings, brushes, and the voltage regulator was placed externally from the PCM, now on toggle Switch.
  • Brake Hydroboost replaced
  • K&N Air Filter
  • Tripod Gauges (400 dollars in jeggs which includes Boost Gauge , Pyrometer for measuring EGT's , and Rear Differential TemperatureGauge )
  • Oversized Rear Differential Cover With Cooling Fins ( 200 dollars )  I flushed the rear diff when i bought the truck, and put in 6 Quarts of Mobil Full Synthetic Gear Lube @ 7 dollars a quart...
  • 195 Degree SuperStat Thermostat ( Stock for this year is typically 170-180. I chose 195 as this is what Cummins upped all their motors to in 1998 and forward.  The greater temperature allows a more complete burn of the fuel, which increases power, decreases black smoke, and increases MPG.
  • New Heater Core ( 6 hour job at the shop x labor rate of 45 bucks = 270 + 70 dollars for the heater core = 340 dollars
  • Replaced Passenger side window motor
  • Complete a/c charge & rebuilt compressor and rebuilt Receiver / drier ( Cost over 400 dollars )
  • 4 New Shocks
  • All New Ball Joints
  • New Brakes All around about 25,000 miles ago ( Pads were in very good condition last time the truck was in the shop )

WVO Vegetable Oil Tank & System ( Two tank Method )
  • 50 Gallon Tank in Bed ( Also the stock 35 gallon tank underneath )
  • Two Electronic Switch Valves ( Run by toggle switches as pictured on the dash )
  • 30 Plate Bronze Heat Exchanger
  • One Mesh Screen Filter on tank to screen the Vegetable oil before it goes up to the main filter.

I'll explain how this system works.  You start up the truck on pump diesel and start driving.  Once the engine heats up to 195 degrees as indicated by your temperature gauge, you flip the toggle switch.  This switches a valve, which allows your lift pump to begin pulling WVO, instead of pump diesel. Then few seconds later you flip a second switch, which reroutes the return line from the engine to the 50 gallon WVO tank, instead of the primary pump diesel tank.  And away you drive.....  When you are a few miles from home, you simply flip the switches back and run pump diesel again to "purge" the system.  This washes out the WVO, and keeps injectors or Injection pumps from plugging up.  I ran to TX and back to PA this summer on WVO.  Runs good, had to change the filter after about 2000 miles and brought it on home.  One way to improve this system would be to run a two filter two filter system, one for straight pump diesel and one for WVO.  I also have taken the time to run heater hose lines from the heater core to the bed of the truck.  This is set up so you can put a copper heat exchange down in the tank to heat up the grease, so you can run in the winter.  You can't run grease when its cold out with out it.  I have not put a heat exchange in the tank, but this would be very easy to do.  The grease does run through a 30 plate heat exchanger, which heats the grease up to about 175 degrees, which makes it the same viscosity as pump diesel.

If you are uninterested in the WVO system and are top bidder on the truck, just subtract 150 bucks from the bid price and I will take the time to uninstall the extra tank, valves, switches, lines, and heat exchanger.  The cost of all those goodies is a lot more than 150 bucks, but I don't particularly want to uninstall it all. It took me about 2 days to install everything.  But if it is something you are uninterested in, I will certainly work with you.

Downsides to the truck:  4 gear sync is out.  It will grind if you just try to pop it in.  However it is very easy to get around this.  I have found it shifts very smooth and quiet if you simply shift it into 4th gear before the RPM's on the tachometer fall below 1000.  It second nature to me, and I can do it with out even looking at the tachometer.  It is missing one of the rear hub caps, and the left front hub cap is cracked.  Heat and AC work great, but they only come out of the defrost position.  I have an appointment at the shop to get this taken care of next week.  Power Mirrors don't work, but I do have the original mirrors that go with the truck and they will be included with the truck.

Thanks for looking, please email me with any questions you may have.  I do have it for sale locally as well.  If you like to do a buy it now, just let me know.  This truck is sold AS-IS.  No warranties implied nor expressed.

A 500 dollar down payment is due within 48 hours via paypal or money order so that i know you are serious about buying the truck.  Otherwise I reserve the right to go to the next bidder.  The balance is due within 7 days of purchase via bank check, money order, or CASH.  I can store the truck for you for a few weeks if you are unable to pick it up right away.  I can also drive it part way to you.  I'm pretty flexible, let me know any other ideas you may have.
