1972 Datsun Z-Series 240z
| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1972 Datsun 240z Rolling Chassis. $3000 in brakes and suspension components. My family has owned many Zs. I started this 240z project with the intention of restoring the vehicle for track use. I nearly completed the suspension but had not gone much farther. There is no engine, transmission or engine bay components and some parts are missing. I had plans to do an engine swap to a newer Nissan engine. I have been very busy with my career and have no time or space to continue the project. It has been sitting the past few years. My loss, your gain! I live in VA, the car is in my grandmother's garage in NJ. I drove up a few weeks ago to carefully document and photograph the vehicle all the parts that are included with it. Condition: The frame is in good condition with little rust. New floor pans and frame rails were welded in. I began restoration on the suspension and undercarriage. Much of it is nearly complete with fresh underbody and wheel well coating, suspension components removed, rust removed, painted and reinstalled. The body panels are all in good shape as far as not having any major rust or holes, but they all have their fair share of dents, dings, and are in various stages of primer, sanding, or paint chipping off. A new quarter panel was welded onto the right side but was not smoothed out yet. The roof has a sunroof and is bent out of shape as can be seen in the photos. The car originally had a butterscotch interior. Much of these pieces are included, the doors are in good shape. The dash has only a few couple-inch-long cracks. It is the best condition original 240z dash I've ever seen. All the heating components from under the dash were removed. The rest of the dash is intact. All the individual parts are cataloged below and in the photos. Upgraded suspension and brake components: All the new suspension parts were purchased from Modern Motorsports (www.modern-motorsports.com) and the calipers are remanufactured parts from a supplier. The suspension has new Ground Control coilover springs and tokico five-way adjustable shocks for precise suspension tuning. It has most of a complete set of Energy Suspension urethane bushings installed, the remainder are in the box. The brakes have been upgraded with the Toyota 4x4 four piston conversion kit in the front and the 240sx caliper disk brake conversion kit in back. This can be seen on Modern Motorsport's website. Also included is a Wilwood front/rear brake pressure adjuster to fine tune the system with the upgrades. Also, there are all the pieces to the parking brake adapter to enable the 240sx rear calipers to be hooked up to the brake. The front and rear brake lines are included as are the high performance pads. The 14" wheels that come with the car, six in total, do not fit over these brakes! (Four 280zx wheels two wire-spoke wheels) The backs are only on there with some washers for now to enable them to barely clear the calipers so that the vehicle can be moved. The front wheels will not fit over the brake calipers so the calipers are removed. The calipers were shown on the vehicle in the photos for illustration purposes. To use these brakes you will need to use 15" wheels. This vehicle has NO TITLE/LOST TITLE. I bought the vehicle with no title from someone who also bought it without a title. The last time the vehicle was inspected was in 1984 in Maryland, the sticker is still on the windshield. It is anybody's guess what the title status is. You basically have three options. You can: -Use this as a parts car. Take what you need, such as the upgraded suspension. -Use it for racing and track use only. -Attempt to recover the title by following the procedure in your state. Typically a multi-step process that is more laborious than costly. You can also pay a company to do this for you. It is the buyer's full responsibility to arrange shipment/pickup of the vehicle and parts. Sold as is, where is. The vehicle is located in my grandmother's garage in Edison NJ 08820 off Route 27 by the Metropark Train Station. You will need a four wheel car trailer, not a two wheel dolly. The car is very light without any of the parts in it and is quite easy to maneuver. You will most likely be able to fit all the parts inside the vehicle itself for transport. It has a flat from a slow leak in one wheel but we will make sure to bring a pump on the day of pickup. I encourage serious buyers to inspect the vehicle and parts before bidding. If you have any questions or would like to set up a time to see the vehicle, the best way to contact me is to call me (Nick) on my cell at 609-731-9744. I live in VA but will be able to assist in arranging a time for my mother/father to show you the vehicle. I will try to be present at the time of pickup if possible.
