INTERFACE ASSEMBLY
1.Disconnect the battery. Remove the factory radio. Please see your local car audio professional if you have any problems. In vehicles equipped with Navigation or radio codes, it may be better to leave the battery connected and use caution with exposed power wires.
2.Plug the iPod to vehicle T-harness, into the factory radio and into the iPod interface module.
3.Connect a continuous power source to the yellow wire coming from the iPod interface module plug (The orange wire in pin B1 of the radio’s 24-way plug, which is the constant power for the factory radio).
4.Plug the iPod to iPod interface cable into the appropriate connection on the module and route the other end to the desired mounting location, a universal mounting kit is included.
5.Secure the module behind the factory radio and reassemble the dash.
INTERFACE OPERATIONS
Delco (GM) RADIO, XM TUNER MODE
·The BAND button will select/deselect the Wire Tunes interface.
·SEEK UP and SEEK DOWN will track up or track down within a playlist. At the end of a playlist, the track will wrap around to the beginning.
·PRESET RECALL 1 through 6 will select playlists 1 through 6. If there are less than 5 playlists, the button will have no effect. When in XM2 band, playlists 7 through 12 will be selected if available. Press and hold preset 1 and *all songs* playlist is selected.
·PRESET RECALL 6 will toggle between the OEM XM tuner (if installed-see interfacing with the OEM XM tuner) and the Wire Tunes interface. Note that the OEM XM tuner must be disabled with a power relay if both devices are to be used in XM mode in a vehicle.
·SCAN will track up once every ten seconds until pressed a second time.
·SET PRESET 1 will select playlist 0. Playlist 0 accesses all songs on the iPod.
·DISPLAY button changes the display mode. The options are Artist, Track Name and Album. Press and hold this button to *lock* the current mode.
·SET PRESET 2 toggles Random operation. The mode will be momentarily displayed on the radio’s display.
·TUNE/DISPLAY knob will track up and track down when turned.
Interfacing with the OEM XM Tuner
There are two wires coming off the iPod to vehicle T-harness, terminated with female insulated quick disconnects, .187” type. These two wires will need to drive a relay to disable the OEM XM Tuner when required. Listed below is the proper method.
1.Connect the two wires (yellow and green) from the iPod to vehicle T-harness to terminals 85 and 86 of the coil of a SPDT relay. The relay should be physically located very close to the OEM XM tuner.
2.Locate the 12 volt power wire at the OEM XM tuner making sure to use a multi-meter to verify function. It is typically orange in most GM applications. After identifying this wire, disconnect vehicle’s battery before proceeding.
3.Cut the wire identified in Step 2 approximately 6 inches away from the OEM XM tuner.
4.Connect the *car side* of the orange wire to the OEM terminal (30) of the relay, making sure connection is properly insulated.
5.Connect the *tuner side* of the orange wire to the NC terminal (87a) of the relay, Making sure connection is properly insulated. Reconnect vehicle’s battery before proceeding.
6.Select XM/IPOD operation by pressing the BAND button on the factory radio. Press and hold the Preset 6 button on the radio to toggle between iPod mode and XM mode.
Delco (GM) Radio, CD Mode
NOTE: In CD mode the GM radio will not display iPod text. To use in CD mode, cut the pink wire connecting to pin #7 of the 20-way plug.
·The CD/AUX button will select/deselect the wire interface.
·SEEK UP and SEEK DOWN will track up or track down within a playlist. At the end of a playlist, the track will wrap around to the beginning.
·NEXT and PREV will track up or track down within a playlist. At the end of the play list, the track will wrap around to the beginning.
·DISC/SIDE functions as a “playlist up” button. When on playlist 0, the highest number playlist will be selected.
·FF will perform fast forward within a track until released.
·REW will perform fast rewind within a track until released.
·SCAN will track up once every ten seconds until pressed a second time.
·RDM toggles Random operation.
·TEXT may be seen on the available auxiliary display.
FIRMWARE, IPOD AND YOUR WIRE TUNES INTERFACE
The firmware in your iPod must be the latest revision to operate correctly. Go to apple.com and check your revision with the iPod Update.
