is no bondo or filler of any kind on the body. The truck has no rust.
Just under the headlights, above the fender brackets, it is starting
to show some blisters. This is common to these trucks. It has been
sprayed with Ospho an antirust chemical and a small spot of the paint
is discolored somewhat from it. The frame has no rust. It has the
original paint. The original paint was sanded by the fire department.
When I got the truck 10-12 years ago the body was in red primer. The
primer was sealed and the present semi-gloss paint [epoxy or urethane I
don't which] was done. No body work was done. The running boards were
replaced with NOS prior to paint. The bed floor was sand blasted [it
had many coats of paint and was an uneven surface]. The bed has no
rust. Just some light surface oxidation from scratching. There are a
couple of very small holes [smaller than my little finger nail] in the
bed floor where something must have been welded in place and was cut
off. The widened rear fenders were fabricated from 2 pairs of NOS
fenders. Its a very good weld ground smooth with no filler. Its not
invisible. The right rear fender has some scratches, a small white
paint mark and a very slight kink to the edge [tight garage]. The
second set of rear fenders [original] are NOS painted when the truck
was painted. When the government had these trucks in service the GI's
painted them on a regular basis with a brush. This is a a very presentable preserved original truck not a show restoration.
