Here is a simple and cost effective solution for protecting the fog light lens from pitting and flying road debris.  Just install this set of crystal clear lens protectors.  Material is a 3M polyurethane protective tape that has been precision die cut to fit right over the OEM fog lights. The tape will not crack, yellow, shrink, or peel over time.  No special tools needed to install.  Just peel and stick. See installation instructions below.

Note that damage to fog lights from flying road hazards are not covered under the manufacture warranty. With the average cost of replacement fog lights spiraling to $200+,  this is a “no brainer”.  Protect your fog lights today or pay the consequences later!

Directions to Apply Fog Light Protection Film

Required Hardware and Ingredients:

• Spray Bottle
• 70% Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol
• Ordinary Tap Water

Mix 25% Alcohol and 75% water in a spray bottle.  Use the mixed solution to thoroughly clean the surface of the fog light being certain to remove all grease, wax, tar, and dirt.  Dry the fog light with a lint free cloth.  DO NOT REMOVE THE BACKING PAPER AT THIS POINT!  For best results, installation should be above room temperature.  It is best to perform installation in a controlled environment.  In order to achieve a higher installation temperature, turn on the fog lights and wait until the fog light to become warm to the touch.  Before removing the protective backing paper, dry fit each piece to be certain that you are applying the proper piece on the proper light.  Wet your fingers thoroughly with the alcohol solution.  It is important that you not touch the exposed adhesive surface of the film with dry fingers.  Handling the adhesive side of the film with dry fingers or hands will leave marks that will not go away.  With hands and fingers wet, remove the backing paper and immediately spray the new exposed adhesive side of the film thoroughly with the alcohol solution.  Spray the warmed fog light thoroughly with the alcohol solution.  Apply the film to the light and use your hand to smooth the film onto the light from the center out.  You may notice a hazy appearance between the lens and the plastic film within an hour of installation.  This is caused by residual moisture that has become trapped between the film and the light.  This is a normal occurrence and it should last no longer than 1 week.  Heat accelerates the dissipation of the moisture.  Driving with the fog lights on at all times is helpful.  The adhesive should cure for at least 48 hours before washing your vehicle.

Note that the protection film is cut slightly smaller in size than the OEM fog light lens so that heat from the fog lights can dissipate.
