"RancheroStar"  '87 Ford Aerostar van customized into a pickup truck unlike anything you've ever seen!  All metal: no Bondo, no fiberglass.  This is solid!  Many pics of the process available.  It just needs someone to finish it!  Owner died before he could finish his dream. 
One time, after the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit, Michigan, the owner saw his car on the Motor Trend magazine website.  In response to an e-mail from the owner, Frank Markus had this to say:  "That was my favorite car!  I got a distant photo of it on your northbound pass, and was thrilled to see you come by an hour or two later on the southbound side closer up.  What fun!  Does the mid-gate work like an Avalanche's?  Keep working on it.  Shiny paint will make all the difference in the world.  I'll bet one of the Ford fan magazines or some customizing mag. would love to do a spread on it once it's all finished.  Sadly, I don't know anyone at any of those magazines to help make introductions.  But I suppose when you contact them, you can mention, "as photographed by Motor Trend" as a way of increasing your credibility!  Good luck, Frank Markus motor trend."
The owner had quite a vision.  Being a very good mechanic and body man, he knew that the frame would hold the 460 C.I. engine he planned as a mid-engine, behind the seats, with in-board slicks.  His front grill idea, already in progress, was round headlights with a 1950 Chevrolet pickup truck grill with stainless steel mesh behind it.  The tailgate works just like a pickup, and the back window opens like a hatchback.  As can be seen from the picture, it is primed and ready to paint.  His paint scheme was to do the front in a pale yellow, with straight flames lined in dark blue as a transition to pale aqua.  At the moment, the V-6, rear-wheel drivetrain and the cab interior are stock.  Please contact me and I will send pics of the transformation.
