This nice Crown Victoria overheated on me Friday 10/30, received diag. 11/4 the repair bill and was more than I wanted to pay for repair. The mechanic explained that the repair was simple, replace the intake manifold (plastic/composite piece covering top part the engine). The hose potion of the piece gave out. Sooooo, the whole part has to replaced, quoted $550 part and 5 hours labor at $550. My research shows Autozone intake manifold part is $289 new and craiglist auto repair service request can be obtained around $250. When this repair is completed this car will once again be a very nice smooth riding sedan. Really a powerful car, 8 cyl 4.6 lt engine. Only 130,000 miles half highway miles. Body is in overall good condition, good condition paint. White with Tan interior. A small 1 inch ding on lower R rear bumper (minor) and a (repaired 4-5 yrs ago) paint scrap behind rear passanger door/fender. Minor, I bumped a wall in an underground garage. Is currently able to start up and drive the vehicle until it overheats, How far? I didn't push it, pulled over immediately and called for a tow when it overheated. I recently downsized from a residence with large two car garage and 4 car size driveway. Now have 1 car garage, 1 space. Including the Crown Vicoria, I own 3 cars so was going to get around to downsizing to 2 cars and this seemed like a good time. This is primary reason I didn't want to pay for a repair and decided to sell the car instead repairing it. 21 mpg or better on hwy, tires/rims are good, good brakes, good interior, power seats, windows, all other power items all work, All lights and light functions work fine. good steerng, auto transmission all works good. Streering pulls a little to right. Buy this car, make the repair and you will have negotiated yourself a fantastic deal.
