1964 Ford Fairlane 500 4dr. 57,xxx original miles. All matching numbers. 260 cu.in. V8, The car starts, runs, stops very well. It shifts and drivers very well. It is a manual steering, manual drum, 3 spd, column shift manual car. Its a pleasure to drive. It is equipted with its original working AM radio (dash speaker was replaced). Seats have no tears or rips, carpet is original, again, with no rips or worn areas. It is a little faded though. All electrical items work properly, including the optional back up lights. The underside is very solid with nothing more than surface rust - no holes. Here is a list of recent work done to the car: Paint is the orig. color, repaint a couple of years back at a cost of $3000 by the previous owner. 1964s are know for front rail frame rot due to the poor design of these areas. This car was no exception! Therefore, the R&L front framerail sections by the LCA strut were replaced and the lower radiator support was replaced. During the frame work, the 260 engine and engine bay was detailed. A new radiator, fuel pump, water pump, thermostat and all new hoses were installed. The original Autolite 2100 carb was rebuilt and works wonderfully. The coil, wires, cap, rotor, distributor and plugs were all replaced.. 3 seatbelts were added to the back seat area. Originally, this car did not have rear seatbelts. The brake drums, some of the brake lines, the master cylinder, brake shoes and brake light switch were all replaced. The heater box was removed and cleaned. New defroster hoses were installed too. The old ones were paper and fell apart as they were removed. All suspension grease fitting were greased. New gearbox and rear differential oil were installed. This car is completely road worthy and ready to drive. Tires are 195-75-14 whitewall radials with 75% of the tread remaining. There is some light pitting on the potmetal trim both inside and outside of the car (door handles, C pillar script). I have lots of original receipts showing work done over the years by the original owner. Most have mileage recorded, which will support the claim that the 57K miles is true and accurate. This is an excellent driver quality family sedan for cruising! 2 less doors and it would be easily twice the price! 64 is considered the most desireable year for the Fairlaines, primarily due to the Thunderbolt cars! There are a few SMALL details / repairs that need to be done to this car, here is the list. 1) Windshield is cracked, a new one is $270. 2) The windlace around the headliner/door openings needs to be replaced. I already purchased the new "C" windlace and new 1/2" round windlace - on hand and will go with the car. 3) The rear parking brake cable sticks ($56 from Mac's) 4) The front seat belts do not adjust properly, they need cleaning and lubrication to work properly. Rear belts are new 'aviation style" belts. 5) "Cat Wiskers" or window sweeps need replacing - I have a new full set that will go with the car. 6) paint has a few very small bubbles, hardly noticeable. There are no dents, but a few lights scratches here and there that occurred during storage over the past couple of years. I'm representing this care as completely and fairly as possible. Inspections are welcome at my home in central NJ. Question? please ask. Full payment is required before the car will be released to the new owner. Shipping costs are all on the buyer. Arrangements must be made by the new buyer too. No warranties, car sold as-is. No paypal please. Full payment before shipping or transfer of title. History of this car: I purchased it from ebay a few months ago. I needed extensive front frame rail repair and multiple engine/tune upgrades. The price reflects my purchase cost plus all the additional parts / work put into this car to make it a GREAT as car as it is now. thanks! good luck. Mike On Oct-30-09 at 16:43:22 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional pictures: I have detailed pictures of how the front frame rail repairs were done. The front rails and radiator crossmember were Crites sections, grafted into place by plug and full seam MIG weld. Its rock solid. I also have pictures of 3 small rust bubble areas. The "newer" paint is ~3 yrs. old, but the car was not driven in that time. There are 3-4 small 1/4 "dots" /bubbles on the front right edge of the hood. There are 2 very small areas of bubbling behind the right rear and left rear tire. I cannot post anymore picts here, 24 is the max. So if you request the picts....I will send them to you. Also: I'm picking up a windshied this Sunday, I also have a new front windshield gasket (may or may not be needed depending on the condition of the old gasket). Either way, IF the windshield is good (no crack, chips or scratches, I will include it in the auction at no additional price IF the reserve is met) If the windshield is not useable, no glass will be provided, but the gasket will go with the car either way. Carpet: I forgot to mention, I have a pint of SEM red carpet dye to redye this orig. carpet back to its bright red. The dye will be included in the auction for the winner at no additional cost. Any questions or picture requestion...just ask. On Oct-30-09 at 17:49:22 PDT, seller added the following information: Don't ask me why, I noticed the screw holding the gauge shroud (in front of the speedo) was loose! Its screwed in now. lol. Also: since you can't really see it in the picture....all the jack / spare components are with the spare tire (jack, plate, hook, wrench, tiedown bolt). Spare is the same size radial as the four on the car. On Nov-01-09 at 15:53:19 PST, seller added the following information: I just picked up the good, used, replacement front windshield today, so I have it on-hand. The glass and brand new gasket will go with the car if the reserve is met. Any question, just ask. On Nov-03-09 at 08:45:53 PST, seller added the following information: I was asked about the exhaust: its the OEM type single exhaust. Cast Iron stock manifolds, Y pipe, into a single muffler / tailpipe out the right side. The other day I noticed there was a muffler leak at a seam. Today (11/2), I just had the muffler shop replace the muffler and tailpipe with a new one. No exhaust leaks. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
