1961 FORD GALAXIE 500

MICHIGAN

This is a very nice low mile 1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie 500 that was purchased by Larry Bird and his wife Dinah in 1992. This is a 61k original mile car. She has her original paint, interior and 289 motor that runs excellent! I pursched her from the 2nd owners after Larry and his wife. This was Larry's late night cruiser. Party time?

The paint is in really good shape and its obvious the car has been garaged most of its life. There is some checking on the rear trunk lid but nothing major. Thye paint still has a lot of shine and years of service left. The chrome is in very good condition with no rust other then a small hole on the rear bumper top from the original single exhaust. Converted to dual a few years ago. The trim is in very good shape. The body has a ding or two but everything lines up correctly ands looks great.

POWER STEERING

FRESHLY REBUILT A/C (blows Ice Cold)

The interior is really clean with the seats near new. The door panels are mint. The glassis all in good shape with a small crack on passenger window that is so low it is barely visible.The headliner is super clean and ALL THE GAUGES work. The dash is is great shape with a little shrinkage on the passenger side that can be fixed with a heat gun. The interior is very clean!


Mechanically she is a great runner. The original 289 was recently tuned up and runs great with nice power and a great rumble fron the dual exhaust. The original 4 barrel carb has a little miss in lower speeds but a good float cleaning should solve that problem. I drove the car about 200 miles while in Michigan and she drove just fine. Did real well at 70 MPH. The tires are a little older though. Thye hubs are in very good condition. The original trunk liner is a little dirty but all there along with original jack. I would consider this a very clean #3 original with no rust issues. The under carriage has minimal surface rust but the trunk and floor pans are solid!
