Such an amazing find is the miraculously well-built Model “A” Pick-up presented for auction here! This ’31 has led a charmed life and was only driven a few HUNDRED miles since being completely rebuilt.

Its owner is a local celebrity here with strong family bonds to the community that date back to the 1800’s. In fact, the street he lives on is named after him.  Needless to say, he has treated the car like his one and only child, never leaving the Golden State.

To claim this Pick-up is well kept would be an understatement. Not only is the body and interior immaculate; the engine, drive train, undercarriage and suspension are all a spectacle of modern ingenuity. Oh, and nearly dirt free. 

Exterior:

Does a picture tell a thousand words? Well take a look at this clean, rust free body, undercarriage and trim. Everything speaks volumes about the loving care this ‘31 has received over the years and underscores the truck's Southern California provenance.

In fact, in its present condition, this fine example could be proudly DRIVEN straight to any local car show or Concourse d'Elegance and displayed in the “Driver Class Division” with pride and joy!

Interior:

The interior looks (and is) mostly stock with a vintage Model “A” Dash, hardware  and fuel shut-off lever at the original, rubber passenger floorboard location.

The Sunpro tachometer and vacuum gauge combined with Grant Steering Wheel and Electric Windshield Wiper bring modern attention to an otherwise archaic world.

Engine & Mechanical:

With only 1,882 miles (see photo of odometer) since a rebuilt, ’78 Ford Pinto engine with C-3 Transmission and all the above mentioned modern suspension components were installed, this Pick-up is in superior outstanding overall condition.

And there will be no apologies for being late or dropping fluid on the driveway!

The 2300cc 4-cylinder engine starts and idles smoothly in any weather and the automatic C-3 transmission shifts smoothly through the gears. Coolant temperature remains absolutely stable, with no hint of overheating even after extended runs at high speeds. Needless to say, the truck is mechanically as strong as it is cosmetically.

Superisingly, all the electrical works including all lights, gauges, blinkers and switches. Oh, and this truck won’t be leaving any oil for you to slip on, nor will you see any smoke in your rearview mirror!

Drivability:

Aided by improved suspension, front wheel disc brakes and brand new tires, you'll find that handling and braking is greatly improved over stock with no rattles, shakes, shimmies pulling or fading. The stock, Model “A” Exhaust preserves the original sound. How cool!

All in all, this 31 Ford provides a thoroughly smooth, safe and enjoyable driving experience.

Looking back, you realize that, somewhere in time, the chapter of the true utilitarian pick-up has ended. It has ended with the introduction of catalytic converters and engine management systems; it has ended with the worldwide popularity of power steering, power windows, and power-assisted thinking.
