Vehicle History Report Summary for 1968 Ford Mustang
| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This vehicle was purchased for me by my girlfriend in 2001. My girlfriend is now my wife so it pains to sell the car. The reason for sale is that we have moved to Canada and it is obvious that we will not get the use the car deserves. Please pay attention to the appraisal. Since the appraisal the car has been driven on high days and dry days and has picked up the usual stone chips. Note the car is located in Stuart's Draft Virginia in my Mother-in-law's garage.
The Good. After due diligence we bought the best available car. As the appraisal shows it was a fresh restoration. The car has received regular service. The car pulls strong in each gear with no whines or clunks and the engine starts fine with no smoke. It stops as fine as brake drums can but in a straight line. Temperature gauge and oil pressure sit fine at rest and at revs. The car has seen rain only once and been kept for high days and dry days. Car tires have plenty of tread.
The Bad. The restorer put a 4 speed gearbox in which is not original, Ford say it was sold as a 3 speed. The 4 speed is fine, this is merely information for the purist. I have added Sunpro gauges so I knew exactly what the temperature and oil pressure are. The dash gauges were working when I installed them but cannot gaurantee them now. The left rear quarter glass has come off its rail, it seems an easy fix but may need a new regulator.
The Ugly. The Cragar wheels have slight spots of rust. Both doors have bubbles the size of quarters at the front, unchanged since shortly after purchase. I have tried to photograph them but they do show up at 5MP.
In summary this is a purchase and drive car. The small things can be tended to whilst you enjoy open top motoring.
Due diligence please. I am now in Canada, the car in Virginia. Please no time wasters, go waste your time elsewhere. On Nov-01-09 at 08:03:17 PST, seller added the following information: In answer to the numerous questions. There is no buy-it-now price. We do live in a free trade world and yes I can accept an offer and lift the auction. However the car is in my mother-in-laws garage to keep it safe and dry, however she will want that space herself soon and I want a nice smooth sale hence it essentially being a no reserve auction. I have people viewing the car in the next couple of days so will add their comments. Brakes and steering are manual, the top is power. The hood has functional 'in-hood' indicators. The letter from Ford gives the following information based on VIN 8 = 1968 Model Year. T = Metuchen assembly. 03 = 2 door convertible Mustang. J = 302 CID 8 cylinder 4V. 120543 = consecutive unit number. Vehicle produced on 11/25/1967 supplied with following options. Candyapple Red exterior. Black vinyl bucket interior trim. Power convertible top - black. 3-speed manual transmission. Non locking 3.00 rear axle. F70 x 14 oval tires with white nylon sidewalls. AM radio. Tinted glass. Deluxe wheel covers. I will provide this letter with the car. As to the question "what is it worth?" Anyone can purchase a reputable collector car review and find figures for #3 at $11,000 to #1 at $23,000 with #2 at $16,000. The guide would get you to add approx 20% for drivetrain/interior options and deduct 10% for drumbrakes/manual steering. That said I would urge you to get a current appraisal. Since the appraisal value of $14,600 end year 2000 prices have risen steeply but also dropped. On Nov-06-09 at 13:38:29 PST, seller added the following information: PLEASE SEE ANSWER TO LAST QUESTION. PEOPLE HAVE INVESTED TIME AND MONEY IN TRYING TO PURCHASE THIS CAR. NO ZERO FEEDBACK, NO DREAMERS. PLEASE YOU ARE NO LONGER WASTING JUST MY TIME. I WILL POST EACH TIME WASTER FROM NOW ON. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
