Vehicle History Report Summary for 1968 Ford Mustang Convertible
| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
What a rare opportunity. This is an original unmolested 1968 Mustang Convertible. It will need a total restoration from the ground up however it is a fantastic base to start from. I am listing it here first then if it does not sell will take it to Moultrie Ga for a swap meet. If it does not sell then I will store it till I can restore it. The car will need full replacement floorpans but the torque boxes seem to be ok. The amazing thing is the rest of the body panels look great. The places where you normally find rust on a mustang are nice and straight. There are one or two rust areas about the size of a silver dollar. I have found NO evidence of bondo anywhere on the car. I bought it as an original car that has not been molested and from what I have seen I beleive that to be true. The front passenger fender will need repair as it has a dent in it. It is repairable but is probably easier to replace. The top is power and it works but is slow. It is in good shape tho and looks to be fairly new. The back window is a little cloudy but I think it will clean up fine. The bumpers are shot but the windshield chrome looks good as will as most of the rest of the chrome. Tires are of course not any good. The underside other than the floorpans looks good. There is some surface rust but that appears to be all.
The motor was not running when I got it so I replaced the battery, fuel pump, rebuilt the carb, replaced the fuel tank and fuel lines, new rotor,cap plug wires,and plugs and it turned over and started right up. No smoke and it sounds good however it is not firing on all cylinders. Not sure what is wrong. It does run and drive tho and the clutch and 4 speed transmisson shifts good. The brakes will stop it but would not drive it too far. It will need to be trailered to its new owner.
The interior is all there but will need to be replaced as well. The front seats need new covers but the foam feels good. The rear seat looks like it will clean up. The carpet is shot. The dashpad looks good. The doorpanels will need to be replaced and the panels need to be repainted or replaced. There is no radio.
I have tryed to be very complete in my description but I am sure I may have missed something. This car will make a great project and is very rare with the 4 speed transmission.
