This is a South Carolina car that has never been driven in snow and/or salt. The car is very clean underneath.  An acquaintance of mine bought it from and ad in Hemmings in 1987. He flew from MI to SC to drive it home. Somewhere in KY it spun a rod bearing, and had to be towed the rest of the trip back to MI. He pulled 400M engine and C6 trans and sent both out to be rebuilt. When he got them back, he had become ill and never installed either. I bought the car from him in November of 2005. I took the trans back to where it was rebuilt, and had it rebuilt again……he had never filled with oil, and it was all rusted inside. I pulled intake to inspect engine, and all was clean, so I merely ran oil pump with drill and oiled cylinders. Rather than putting the cast iron intake and 2-bbl carb back on, I installed a new aluminum intake and Holley 4-bbl carb. The original manifolod and carb go with the car.  I also installed the following new parts: radiator and fan clutch, all new hoses and belts, new transistorized distributor, plugs, and wires, new power steering pump, new starter, new flywheel, battery, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, calipers, rotors, drums, pads, springs, new fuel pump, new gas tank and sender, new radials and Magnum 500 wheels. I had a complete dual exhaust system custom installed by Midas. I had the bed-liner sprayed-in and a fresh paint job with new GT striping. The paint job was a bit of a disappointment. It was done by a “friend of a friend”, and is only “fair” in my opinion. Some careful color sanding and power buffing could make it a lot better. I have driven the car about 300 miles since assembly. The odometer shows 69,990 at this time.

The air conditioning is all there, but does not work, nor does the radio. This car could be driven with confidence.
