One of the finest totally original (unrestored), well-preserved, low mileage T-Birds around ! 

The 1958 - 1960 Thunderbirds were unique in their unit construction, low build, and original concept of bucket seats / console interior, which established the personal luxury concept in automobiles !  This one is even rarer because it has one of the only 2500 Factory-installed sliding sunroofs that were introduced by Ford in the 1960 Thunderbird model year: the first post World War II American car with a sunroof.
 

"The 1958 to 1960 Ford Thunderbirds, affectionately called Squarebirds by enthusiasts, were conceived as compact luxury cars with distinctive style. The Squarebird started a whole segment in the car market. The Riviera, the Monte Carlo and all the two door Lexus and Mercedes are all just imitators of the original Squarebird concept: compact design, unique styling, formal roof, full-length center console, bucket seats in front, contoured rear bench seat and two doors. This great design by George Walker has stood the test of time. Initially reviled as the cause of the death of the two-seat Thunderbird, the Squarebird is now considered a milestone car that is eagerly sought out by collectors." It was stored in a temperature-controlled environment in Tryon, NC, part of a collection of cars and automobile memorabilia until 2001, when its 40-year owner passed away.   The estate had planned to send it to the 2002 Barrett-Jackson auction, but never followed through.
