PRICE REDUCED... WITH NO RESERVE!

Newly finished conversion of a 1996 Geo Metro. It was originally converted 3 years ago but 3 months ago we put in all new batteries, a new controller, new shocks, painted it inside and out, installed a new windshield, and installed electric door locks. It's a stick shift and has a cd player, battery heaters and temp guages, 5 seats and trunk space. The car itself has 104,400 miles on it but when it was originally converted in 2006 it had a new clutch installed.

- Range (Remember, these quotes are conditions dependent!): It gets 105 amp hours to a charge so the range is anywhere from 40-80 miles depending on how fast you drive and the steepness of the hills. The car can travel on the freeway no problem (I've had it up to 85mph). The range at 55mph is about 50 miles. I've gone 80 miles with an average of 30mph and have had it at a range of 35 miles when I travel 70mph the whole time. Every day I travel to work and back on the freeway going an average of 50mph for a round trip of 35 miles. I still have 25% range left over. This impressive range is due to the extra batteries we installed. See below.

- Batteries: Twelve 12V (so 144V) Interstate wet batteries PLUS twelve 12V (so 144V) 14 amp hour AGM sealed batteries. These sealed AGM batteries were installed in parallel with the standard twelve 12V Interstate wet batteries. They added 15 amp hours to the range and they charge and discharge normally. All the batteries are brand new as of June 2009.

- It has an 8" Advanced DC motor and a Manzanito Micro charger. These were both new 3 years ago at the time of the original conversion.

- It has a brand new Syncromotive controller. (Operating voltage range: 24-156V; Peak output: 700amp) This controller has a USB output so you can program, customize, etc.

- It has a heater/defroster in the car that works very well. It pulls about 2000 watts (which is about 16 amps). It does not have air conditioning, but it could easily be installed (we just don't need it here in Seattle).

- It has battery heaters and they are on the same circuit as the charger. They draw 2 amps on 110V of AC but that draw is not shown on the meter when it's plugged in. They are on when the car is charging and off when the car isn't charging (though there are switches to turn them off completely if you want). The battery boxes are VERY well insulated. I can't plug in at work and they stay warm all day.

- It comes with 110 and 220 power cords, a tow bar, and a new spare tire. If you don't like the loud "100% Electric" signs on the sides they can be removed :)

- All the work (the original conversion and the recent conversion) was done by Dave Cloud, the local Seattle conversion guru. He's done quite a few of these Geo Metros (more than 10 of them). The only reason I'm selling is because my work won't let me plug in (damn Microsoft!) and I work too far away to be able to run errands at night. This car is in perfect working order and was custom built to provide the maximum range for its size.

Please contact me with any questions.

Thanks, Greg

Q: How long does it take for this vehicle to charge? Thank you
A: Hi, It depends on how much you drain the batteries. It gets up to 105 amp hours, so if you're plugged into a normal outlet (110V) pulling 12amps per hour and you've completely drained the batteries, then it would... Continue reading

A: Hi, Sorry for the late response. - It does have a DC-DC converter. It's rated for 60 amps. - The seat height and location was not changed when the batteries were put in. So yes - two adults can fit in the back seat.... Continue reading
