This beautiful Fuego is a rare survivor. Popular in Europe but sold in the U.S. for only four years, Fuegos have become difficult to find - especially in this condition.

Our example is extraordinarily clean. It spent most of its life in Texas and Florida, according to the papers that we were given with it. The car has been driven only 20 000 miles since coming north.

The Fuego would make a delightful driver or the perfect basis for an easy restoration.

The interior is in excellent shape - extremely clean and with amazingly little wear. The red-striped upholstery is still bright, and the vinyl surfaces look good. There are no cracks in the dashboard.

As you can see from the photos, the exterior looks superb. The paint is shiny and bright, although small imperfections do show with close-up examination. The original wheels are in excellent condition and ride on four brand new Michelin Pilot Exalta tires in the manufacturer's recommended size of 195/60 R 14.

Most important for an older French vehicle, the undercarriage appears remarkably free of rust. We have included photos taken while the car was on a lift.

The car starts immediately, idles quietly, and has satisfactory power. The five-speed transmission works smoothly, as do the clutch, brakes, steering, and suspension.

The power sunroof works and the cloth is in good condition. The headlights, parking lights, turn signals, brake lights, wipers, horn, power windows, power mirrors, and radio all work. The radio is a later replacement unit with a removable faceplate.

As with any unrestored car this age, there are minor faults. The heater control knob does not move through its full range, the cruise control does not work, and we have noticed some occasional missing or hesitation on acceleration.

This eye-pleasing example of a classic Opron design is ready to take pride of place in your collection.

We will provide a bill of sale for the new owner. Maine does not supply titles for vehicles over 15 years old.

A non-refundable $500 deposit is due from the winning bidder within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The balance is due within seven days of the end of the auction. We will not release the vehicle or finalize shipping arrangements until our bank says all funds have cleared.
