Used, refurbished Guzzi 850T Engine, serial number 093471, most likely from 1974 model. This engine came with a project bike I acquired a while ago. I also had a T3 engine (oil filter type), which I rebuilt and used in the project. This UNFILTERED 850-T engine was surplus, so I completely disassembled it, inspected, cleaned and reassembled. I cleaned the crankshaft sludge trap and installed a new plug. All bearings were in nice shape, so they were used as-is. Crankshaft was in great shape. Cam and cam followers were all decent. The chromed cylinder bores were good, as were the pistons and rings. None of those parts were replaced. I cleaned the heads and lapped the valves lightly. New gaskets and seals were installed where needed. Engine includes flywheel and clutch in good shape (2mm splines). Distributor is installed, but timing is not set on it. Alternator was working when removed from another bike. Valve covers are from the T-3 engine, as I preferred to use the old-style covers from the 850-T on my project. Engine is being sold as shown, with no carburetors, exhaust, alternator cover or anything else other than what's pictured.
This would make a good drop-in replacement for a blown or worn-out engine on your workhorse bike. It is not a "show" or "performance" engine. After going through it from the bottom-end upward, I believe it is solid and will give many more miles of good service. It was reassembled with assembly lube and turns freely with good compression.
In anticipation of the question "Will it fit into an Ambassador/Eldorado/V7 or other loopframe models", the simple answer is "NO", and the complicated answer is "Yes, but with considerable modification or adaptation which would make it more of a pain than it's worth". This engine was designed for early Tonti-frame bikes (V7 Sport, 850-T, T-3, G-5....) and that's the type bike it should be used in.
