Up for auction, a very rare thing indeed, A Heinrich Gas Tank -  8.75 Gallons:

For BMW Motorcycles - For the later two valve twins - This tank is for the 1981 to 1995 bikes - it's especially at home on R80GS and R100GS bikes.

I have full faith in this tank - any qualification below is just to make sure you knowthat I haven't checked it to be sure, as I don't have access to a bike to mount this on.

About:  If your reading this you probably know about Heinrich tanks - and how unobtainium they are - and that they are becoming even harder to come by.  This is one of the later tanks.

According to the model number (210), this tank is between 8 and 9 gallons.

I have not mounted this tank - nor filled it with gas.  I don't have any reason to think this tank is anything other than tip-top, but just know, I haven't seen it for myself.

PLEASE NOTE:  This tank will not fit (without substantial modifications) on pre-1981 BMW bikes.  The rear mount (as constructed) extends way beyond the stock tank mounts.  Of course, both of these could be overcome by someone who is serious about mounting this tank on their Slash 5 to Slash 7 bike. 

Condition:  While the tank is in excellent condition, it's not perfect.  The white paint is nice, but there are a number of nicks and scratches over the tank.  There are a couple of small dings that are not readily visible, but in the right light, can be seen.  The interior of the tank, that can be seen, looks excellent.  I'd give the tank a 9 to 9.5 out of 10.

The tank does not have petcocks, but it does have a cap.  As I've not had gas in the tank, I have no idea about how tight the cap seals - but don't have any reason to suspect that it doesn't fit well.

The previous owner assured me that there is no bondo or filler on this tank.  I have no reason to disbelieve him.

Mounting:  As anyone with a Heinrich knows, mounts are often needed - and none were supplied.  Carl made his tanks with the idea that his customer would decided on the best way to mount the tank.  The pictures give you an idea of the solution that the original owner of this tank devised. 

I do not have access to an 81-95 bike, so I don't know how the mount relates to what is on the bike - but you should know that you might have to do some level of fabrication in order to get this tank mounted onto your bike.  Your mileage may very.
