1977 750A Honda Hondamatic
This is an absolutely gorgeous motorcycle. And it is known for it's..... wow!!! factor responses where ever it goes. It was purchased from a co-worker in March 1980 with only 1400 miles. Today the cycle has 17,223 miles. The bike has been garage kept and the 'candy presto red' paint and its chrome looks as new ......with no fading of the gas tank paint like you see on so many older bikes that have been, either uncared for or left out in the weather without protection. It is a real attention getter and everywhere it goes there are those who gather and practically interrogate you with questions....where did you get it, how long ago, where did you find it, and on and on and on. I have also noticed something else about the bike......that not many people even knew that Honda made an automatic cycle. There are have been some touring accessories installed (and I did the installation) , but there were no holes drilled to accommodate their installation. The accessories were an idea that I got from observing some Shriner cycles in a parade. It is also interesting that the local police department purchased several of the hondamatic cycles in the late 70s for their traffic division and used these cycles until Honda no longer provided the automatic transmissions. The police were still driving their bikes when I purchased mine.
The cycle is in excellent condition and has been well maintained. It has always been parked in the exact spot when not being driven since my purchase which also means I've lived in the same house for a long time. You can call it a classic or even a vintage cycle, but neither name takes away the fact that this cycle is dependable and ready to take that journey you've given so much thought to always taking, but you just never did. But now you can and this hondamatic will provide the ease to make this happen.
So, if you always wanted to ride, but didn't want to shift those gears, then this one's for you. It has two gears.....a low gear (L) and a drive (D) gear. And you shift these gears with the toe shift lever and there is nothing else to do, but set back and enjoy the ride. The low gear is seldom used, since you can operate the cycle by simply starting in the driving (D) gear the same as you would an automobile.
I really never thought I would part with this bike......but time makes changes in our lives that we sometimes don't really want to make. I can discuss this with you when we talk. I have bought a sport car (yes it's topless just like the bike) so I still have some wind in my face This is an exceptional opportunity for the new owner to have a cycle that is so nice that they will never have to meet another hondamatic owner and feel envious about their bike....it will be just the opposite, you will be the envied one.
The only thing else to say is, "you might not purchase the bike, but if you really want a beautiful and dependable low mileage go-anywhere cycle, and don't get this one, then you likely didn't want a bike in the first place."
