1964 International Harvester Travelall
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Originally from dry Arizona this Travelall came to be quite the ride for my little girl. It was her first car and she has moved on to a car with A/C. I thought I taught her better... Girls. It is a 1964 International Harvester Travelall. The seats and door panels were all redone and the paint was redone about 5-6 years ago. I live near the beach and the paint is starting to blister here and there. Nothing major just blisters. The rear window works as do all the hand crank windows inside. There are disc brakes on the front and the engine is a MOPAR poly hemispherical 318 and a 727 three speed automatic transmission. It leaks a little oil and transmission fluid but runs just fine. OK, it doesn't smoke and all that it is just an old truck that has a couple of minor leaks. I suspect that even if you fixed them it would start to leak again. Old cars do that. It has Mopar electronic ignition and that means no points to ruin your day. The Carburator was just replaced from sitting and the fuel pump was upgraded to electronic for dependability. If you are local to Cocoa Beach come look at her I am selling it because I cannot take care of it any longer. I would love to see a younger couple take it and care for it the way we did several years ago. The windshield and rubber for the front of the car was replaced. The rest of the rubber and felt are needy. When you drive it thru the car wash be ready! It actually is funny to hear the kids squeal when the power washer comes thier way. The truck is really, really dirty in the photos. I looked closer and what looks like grease on the hood is actually a little black mold from sitting under an oak tree. It will clean up. The bed is red oak, sort of like a woodie on the inside, all business on the outside. It is dirty, dirty, dirty but at least you can tell we still use it. If I need to I can wash it and make it sparkle again, but then I may want to keep it for another 20 years. Bid high and bid often. Or just enjoy the show... There is an issue with the drivers door. It works and all it just sometime takes 2-3 trys to catch. It's been that way for a year or so. It drives and tracks very good down the road. The power steering and brakes make you forget you are in an old car. People everywhere want to talk to you about your car. "What is that"? My daughter used to complain that, "Only old men talk to me about this car" What do you mean old men? "Oh, you know, like 40 year old men". I am 46 so that hurt a little more that it should have. All and all it is a good solid truck. We still use it to take stuff to the dump and the beach. On rare occasions we take it to the local Friday car show. That's not my thing; with all of the trailer queens and polish. I perfer a good car that is still being used for it's intended purpose. There will be no reserve on the car and it is worth every penny I am asking. You cannot buy a dependable old clunker like this one anywhere else. Drive her home. There is no reason I can think of not to, Highway speeds are good at 65 or so anything after that it sounds a little bit wound up. It's last trip was to Mississippi and that is a 13 hour drive. It took 2 days but she made it. It is not a four wheel drive and I didn't polish it up and take soft photos to hide any blemishes. It is just a nice old clunker that has it's share of bruises but overall it is a fine car. I am selling it AS IS.

This is off my camera phone but it kind of worked... Video of the inside and starting the truck. Watch out Hollywood!
The item was relisted because the previous high bidder welched. The International is listed in other rags. If I close the auction early it will sell thru ebay, no exceptions. This protects both buyer and seller alike.

OK, here is some shameless promotion. I took the IH to the local car show today. I have to tell all of you if you are into this sort of thing this is the car for you; it is the origional SUV. There were Mustang's, Chevy Nova's Cobra's and even 3 Ford GT race car's. Holy cow we had the most devoted crowd. Everyone had an IH story to tell. Camaro's were a dime a dozen. I had the nastiest dirtiest car there and the biggest crowd. WooHoo! If I could I would keep her. My friend wanted to just take it and keep her and if it doesn't sell I may just give it to him; or my daughter is coming home for the holidays and I may offer it to her to keep her grounded.. Over 100 watchers: bid bid bid. If you have a garage or live in the south you will love this SUV. If you live up north, get it undercoated, there is none and I suspect you may get 5-6 years before you have serious rust, don't do it.
