1979 International Harvester Scout II

Up for grabs is a 1979 International Harvester Scout II in original and unmolested condition.  This Scout has 86,421 original miles, is nearly rust-free, and features original wheels and interior.  The Scout has a 345 V-8 and automatic transmission along with the upgraded russet (plaid) interior.  This Scout is in outstanding mechanical condition as the engine has been removed and underwent a full rebuild.  This is easily one of the best Scouts on EBay this year (I track Scouts regularly) and also one of the cleanest in the country.  The vehicle has NOT been lifted or cut thankfully!   I am only selling to finance another vehicle restoration (and because I am closing in on $20,000 spent on this vehicle). 

The Scout features:

·         Original, numbers matching motor rebuilt less than 300 miles ago

·         Five (5) matching new BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires with less than 300 miles

·         Brand new Edelbrock 650 carburetor (electric choke) with less than 300 miles

·         Brand new Duralast Gold premium battery

·         Replaced alternator

·         Installed new rear brake shoes

·         Replaced locks and ignition key (I have the originals)

·         Replaced the rear wheel cylinders

·         Fresh tune-up (post rebuild)

·         Oil change (post rebuild)

·         New dash sockets and bulbs, horn relay (horn works)

·         New wiring

·         Replaced fuel pump

·         New heater motor

·         New oil sending unit

·         New battery tray

Please keep in mind that this vehicle is over 30 years old.  However, the rust (and mileage) is minimal when compared to other Scouts.  All of the mechanical work was performed by professionals (not me!).    

This vehicle has been driven daily.  All electrical works, and the original radio even turns on but the speakers do not function (I think).  All of the gauges work except for the oil pressure, but I am including a functioning gauge that I have not had time to install.  The A/C blows cold.  To be perfect, the Scout needs a new passenger window crank (the black plastic piece), a new dash pad (there is a crack in the middle), and a new dash gauge decal-all parts are easily available from Super Scouts Specialists; the cruise control also needs to be reattached.  There are ZERO holes/tears in the seats.       

I am including many new parts in the sale to include ALL body emblems, decals and side markers lenses and housings.  Also included will be the side and rear scuff plates as well as the original russet console lid (I replaced it with a new black one).  I also will include brand new copies of the International Truck Service Manuals for 1977-1979 and a copy of this vehicle’s line ticket.  The Scout only needs minimal work to be fully restored, and I have tried to keep the vehicle as original as possible in terms of appearance.  I have kept extensive records of the work I have had performed (included in the sale).
