I have a 1977 Jeep CJ5 with a lot of work done to it. The 304 has
approx 5000 miles on it with an Edelbrock performer package, intake,
cam and 4bl carb. It holds 55 to 60 psi of oil pressure and does not
smoke, tick or knock. It does have one leak, if you can believe it,
from the oil pump seal/gasket right where the oil filter is. I have a
new pump kit with gears to go, I just have not put it on yet.
The top is a Bestop that is only a couple years old and is in real nice condition with 2 pc doors with rubber insulation around the doors, rides relatively quiet even with the headers and dual exhaust out the back. The has a new clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing at the engine rebuild time and works great. I just put a brand new HEI distributor with new plugs, wires, fuel filter, gas tank and hoses just in the last 2 months. It has all new brakes, 5000 miles ago that is, rear axles seals and such. Also has new steering links, tie rods and such, new steering brackets, power steering pump, new oil and temp gauges. The transmission is a T150 3 speed that works great except for the synchros in first gear are going bad. You jeep guys and gals know what that is but for those that don't, it will pop out of first gear if you let off the gas under heavy acceleration. The 4wd works great and it enjoys slow crawls through the trails. It has a couple thousand miles on the new tires 33x12.5x15 with alluminum wheels purchased at the same time. They need a little polishing but look great now. It has a 3" body lift and no suspension lift. Haven't got to it yet. The paint is pretty good just has a few little spots and dings and such. The worst is the floors but the do have the panels put in by the PO with pop rivets. You can't tell anything due the nice thick double insulated carpet in it. The heater works great, the stereo and speakers are new and the interior is nice. The jeep is not perfect but it is great jeep to get in a ride or put a little into to finish little details and have a close to perfect one. I am wanting a CJ7 for a little more for the kids stuff and gear so if you have one in about the same shape and want to trade, please let me know and send some pictures and details of what you have.
