1963 Jeep CJ cj5 m-38
| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1963 CJ5 (actually, I think its an m-38 Military body) with '86 VW Turbodiesel (80HP) running on recycled waste vegetable oil. Samurai 5-speed trans and transfer case. New HD clutch. Hanging pedal conversion. Posi axles Dana 44 rear & 27 front. Two sets of axles, one is from a 1970.5 cj with 3.92 ratios and trac-lok diffs. (I have installed the 3.92 posi in the rear and I'm driving it around town in 2WD, runs great!) The front 3.92 (also posi-traction) needs the discs swapped over and tie rods installed to bolt up. The original set of axles are the military ratio; 5.38.
The waste oil tank is right in the back for easy filling and holds about 12 gallons. (should give about 400 mile range?) There is a small petro diesel tank under the front cowl for starting and stopping on dino-diesel... The 12v fuel-supply switch for selecting tanks is in the dash.
Good newer wheels with 15x30.5 tires in great shape. Power brakes.
There is a lot of stuff going with the jeep:
...... a nearly perfect 1970 cj body with no rust, good paint and ALL the parts for a complete body swap AND a Meyer steel full hardtop with good newish paint and roll-up windows in the doors- it needs the window felts replaced. (SEE THE LAST PIC: This is the hard top and body on the chassis it came off, before I bought it for my swap)
.......a full set of 2" lift Rancho springs
.......several boxes of parts for the engine and bodies- also some soft doors???
Can't remember it all! It is a rolling, running project. Fun for town as is, almost freeway ready- I drive the freeway but it's noisy and windy! I have a full roll cage that goes with it (This was cut for removal by the previous owner but can be reassembled easily). Bolt-up the front axle and go hunting or put it in the garage for a fun winter project. I'd do it myself but I don't have a shop or garage anymore and I'm tired of rolling around on a dirty parking lot! Please call me at 415-572-0734 to drive it. Thanks!
I can deliver to a nearby pick-up point but there may be an extra charge to get it to a shippers depot (if your shipper's truck doesn't pick-up near me) On Nov-08-09 at 14:14:00 PST, seller added the following information: ADDITIONAL INFO: I took a close look at the pics and they are not very high reolution so they don't show the many little dents and welded body patches on the white body... HOWEVER! the yellow body is near perfect- which is why I bought it and the hardtop for swapping. And, DUH! The previous owner sold ONE fender off the yellow body (can't remember which side?) I got C.R.S. these days.... (Can't Remember Sh*t!) Also, the windshield wipers are removed from the white body windshield and it has no heater. Hmmm... what else- oh, I looked for the soft top parts and doors but cannot find them. On Nov-09-09 at 13:54:24 PST, seller added the following information: Added Info #2! I found a pic of the spare body and added it at the end for your viewing enjoyment... you can see it's in great shape. WOW! On Nov-11-09 at 10:46:06 PST, seller added the following information: A word on shipping! SORRY TO KEEP ADDING MORE INFO but I keep thinking of more stuff that buyers should know (in my opinion). As far as I know, shippers of vehicles do not ship parts along with the vehicle. I sold a Diesel Scout once to a person in Texas and when the shipper's driver arrived with the truck he said I had to unpack the inside of the Scout. I had spent a long time tightly packing the inside of the Scout with the extra parts that came with it and the shipper told me that they have a special arrangement for transporting only vehicles (tax and state line wise) and that all parts can only be shipped as freight, on another carrier that does that. I guess the trucking firms have some agreement between them to stick to that deal. So, if you plan on shipping the running rolling jeep, please do ALL THE SHIPPING RESEARCH BEFORE BIDDING, because I think it might be hard to find the same shipper to move the parts as well. The items needing shipping are: 1 whole body tub, 1 fender, 1 windshield assembly, 1 dashboard, 1 hardtop which breaks down into 6 flat panels (top, sides, doors and rear), 2 seats (aftermarket, high-back), 2 axles, one (front) complete hub-to-hub, 1 full roll cage, in 2 parts, several (3, I think) tubs of Jeep and VW parts. These are the 2'x1.5'x1.5' (approximately) plastic tubs. So, a fair amount of extra stuff to consider when figuring shipping. THANKS- I am excited by the prospect of somebody putting this project together! Good luck! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
