The Learavian radio

The Learavian radio, "THE PILOT'S PREFERENCE" - model # RM 402 C is a 1950's beacon, broadcast, and airline receiver.  I plugged the radio in without hooking up an external antenea and when I turned the radio on it put out a 60 cycle hum.  I don't know if it needs an antennae to work - nor do I know the frequencies of this radio.

\

The case is a little tattered and the plastic covering over the face of the radio is scratched and dirty but it is possible to read the labels on the dial and knobs (as you can see below)

The radio has plugs for an external antennae, a microphone, and headphones.  There is also a band selection switch for 3 different bands - one of which is labeled "Tower" plus a tuning knob to tune in the desired frequency.  There is also a selector switch to opt between AC & DC power.

I would like to thank a knowledgeable ebayer for sending me this additional information about this radio:  This radio broadcasts in the  500 to 1500 khz range, the old marine & aero communication band of about 2 to 6 mhz, and the aero non directional beacon band of about 150 to 500 khz. This was a multipurpose unit, for reception of air traffic, but also used as a navigation device. The direction to a transmitting beacon could be determined by rotating the unit, thus allowing the pilot to home in on an airport.

This vintage Learavian radio is approximately 12" wide, 10" tall, and 7" deep and weighs about 12 pounds.  I'm asking $75 for this antique radio plus $20.00 for shipping and handling.

If you have any questions please email me at b52parts@msn.com and I will answer you promptly!  Sold and shipped only within the United States.  No international bidders & no funds accepted of non-us origin.  Because of its size the Bomb Sight is not returnable!   I accept cashiers checks/money orders/personal checks - No Paypal.  If you don't intend to pay for this item within 7 days of purchase - Please don't purchase.
