The Large ATV Winch Saver is for a little more protection on the ATV winch. It weighs 1 Lb. 4 oz. It is 5 inches wide and 2 1/4 inches thick. This Winch Saver also comes with the new cable lock. It will cover the entire fairlead as you see in the photo above. It is designed for 3/16 or 7/32 inch cable.

The Winch Saver is the latest safety and equipment protection device for your winch, as it allows you to stow your hook in a safe manner at the fairlead (cable guide), without metal to metal contact. The Winch Saver is designed to be compressed between the hook and the fairlead when stowing the hook.

Whether it's a Master Lock ATV Winch or any other vehicle-mounted winch, each has a fairlead. The Winch Saver is designed to be compressed between the hook and the fairlead. This allows you to stow your hook in a safe manner at the cable guide, without the metal-to-metal contact you'd have with a bare winch. Until now, ATV winch kits (and other winch kits) did not have this capability. An ATV winch (and other winches) has one of several types of winch hooks, and of course the winch cable to stow after use. The winch motor retracts the hook and cable, all the way in, and then locks with a sufficient amount of tension to hold it in place. The Winch Saver insulates the cable guide from the hook.

Winch systems include cable locks, but winching in safety just got better. For every ATV and truck winch, part of your total winching equipment system must be protection against injury and equipment damage from cable backlash. For ATV and truck winches alike, The Winch Saver protects brush guards, and the operators of those winches, from harm.

The Winch Saver holds tension on the cable thus not allowing slack to accumulate in the wraps of cable on the spool, and holds the hook in a ready and safe position. Just by viewing the photo above, a winch operator can easily recognize a few benefits of this product. The Winch Saver is made of a Polyurethane material, which is extremely durable and will last for years. This material has a very high impact absorption factor. How does the Winch Saver protect the winch operator? During the winching process the Winch Saver is slid about 1/3 of the outstretched cable from the hook and locked on. If the cable or the anchor point is suddenly released with the cable under tension, the Winch Saver would serve as a backlash suppression, greatly reducing the back lashing energy of the cable and hook. Reducing the potential for damage to the vehicle or you the operator. A large number of winch owners have been injured due to cable and hook backlash. After one year on the market we are Improving the Winch Saver. We offer two new ATV size Winch Saver's and three new full size to meet your needs. All the new Winch Saver's have a new Feature. It's called the cable lock. The cable lock is a slot in the Winch Saver so that it can be locked onto the cable during the winching process. This is very helpfull when winching up or down steep grades, not allowing the Winch Saver to slide on the cable. The Winch Saver is easily installed on the cable with a few simple steps. The white lettering is just for advertising. The Winch Saver will not come with white lettering.

As winch owners, we've all had the fear of winch line backlash. During the winching operation the cable is under great strain. If the cable fails or there is a sudden release at the anchor point due to improper rigging or whatever, both cable and hook are coming back toward the winch at a very high rate of speed. This can be fatal if the operator is in the line of fire. With the Winch Saver on the cable about 3/4 of the way to the hook during a failure such as this the Winch Saver will suppress the backlash greatly due to the high impact absorption factor of the material that it is made from, thus dropping the winch line and hook to the ground before reaching the operator or the vehicle.

Slack is accumulated when your winch hook is stowed without tension on the cable. Slack accumulation in the wraps of the cable will cause tangling. The next time the winch is used, the top two wraps will be pulled down between the loose underlying wraps, causing pinching, flattening and fraying of the cable. Over time, this will ultimately result in cable failure and potential danger to the winch operator. Winch owners have been seriously injured and even killed due to winch line failure. Using a Winch Saver in the proper manner will prevent this from happening. Because the Winch Saver is holding tension on the cable while the winch is not in use, accumulation of slack is prevented.

If the winch is over wound after stowing the hook in this manner, there are a number of things which can happen. The brush guard can be bent or broken. If the cable has been damaged, it can break, and if the operator is nearby, he can be seriously injured. The winch may also be damaged internally, not to mention the stress the rollers are under. Loan your 4x4 to your brother-in-law with the hook stowed like this, and see what he does. Some winch owners will stow the hook to the skid plate or under the bumper, but if your 4x4 gets stuck with the bumper in mud and water, you will have to retrieve the hook by blindly reaching into the muddy water. Not only is this dangerous, it's unnecessary! Stow your hook where you need it, at the front of your winch... Get a Winch Saver!

The New Cable Lock is a slot made in the Winch Saver so that the Winch Saver can be locked onto the cable during the winching process. This is realy important when winching at steep angles. The cable lock is also a big help when respooling the winch line. When respooling 100 ft. of cable you tend to get tired, if you let go of the cable to take a break the cable on the spool will absorb a lot of slack (Bird Nest). Need a break when respooling? Simply lock the Winch Saver onto the cable at the fairlead and take a break.
