Towne Automotive Group has grown from a single-franchise dealership established in 1969 to a multifaceted operation employing over 250 people in Western New York with gross sales topping $140,000,000. The business was started by Frank Downing Sr., as a Lincoln Mercury dealership operating out of a one car garage located in a small strip mall in Orchard Park, New York.
Through the years, Towne Automotive Group has grown and today operates several franchises in Orchard Park, Hamburg and Amherst, New York including Ford, Hyundai, Lincoln, Mercury, BMW, Mazda, Isuzu, Chrysler, Plymouth, Jeep and Auto Choice- a first of its kind used car superstore in Western New York.
Even though the Towne Automotive Group is much bigger today than it was over thirty years ago, the Downings still operate it like a small company with a friendly atmosphere, an open, honest environment, state-of-the-art facilities and a professional staff committed to assisting customers in the process of buying and servicing their cars.
For their commitment to customer and employee satisfaction, Towne has earned some of the highest ratings and owner loyalty awards in the nation. Towne has received numerous manufacturer awards including Ford's and BMW's top honor for customer satisfaction, the Presidents Award. Towne also has one of the highest employee loyalty rates with over thirty percent of the employees being with the company over ten years or more.
The Downings and many employees at Towne are active members of the community and through the years have been committed to helping organizations such as Mercy Hospital, YMCA of Greater Buffalo, The United Way, Trocaire College, Catholic Charities, The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Canisius College, People Inc. and many other community groups. For their work in the community, Frank Downing, Sr. and Frank Downing, Jr. have received several community awards.
