Leaks some vacuum but probably still usable
I think it will work, but have to point out that it leaks vacuum a bit, no matter how loose or tight you make the lid. It's just not a precision item, has rough plastic edges at the jar lip and is just generally imprecisely made. I watched the gauge on my hand pump go steadily down. Having said that, I think it probably will still be usable for brake bleeding. I tested it with the complete hose set up for bleeding, and pulled water from a glass in my kitchen, which worked ok. I'll be doing brakes in a few months so will know better then. Because of the leaking I broke down and bought a size 132 EPDM o-ring and the leak got slower so I'm going with that. Will probably save me a few squeezes on the hand pump during bleeding. Hint for others: it might be even better to use a ... Does not create tight seal...will not hold vacuum.
The item requires a tight seal to create vacuum. The interface between the lid and the top of the container does NOT create an adequate seal. It is plastic on plastic. I had to source a separate o-ring to create an adequate seal for this to work properly.

Nice size for bleeding w/or w/o mighty vac.
Be sure to reshape the metal hook so it does not fit tightly around the neck. Otherwise the plastic will split at the high pressure points. My first bottle several years ago barely visible split at the high pressure points of the metal hook at the neck of the bottle.
