This is a mopar / Chrysler, New Process  A 833 "Hemi" four speed transmission for A body cars: Dart, Barracuda, 'cuda, Duster, Demon, 383, 440, 426 etc.  It is equipped with the 18 spline "hemi" input shaft, 30 tooth output spline, aluminum tail shaft (which appears to be new), early A body Hurst shifter mounting plate (2298), bronze bellhousing adaptor ring and I believe factory hemi gear ratios (1st...33 teeth, 2nd 30 teeth, 3rd...26 teeth and 21 tooth input).  I was told by the previous owner that the transmission had been serviced by Liberty's Gears in the early or mid 1990's and not used since.  It does have Liberty's stamping and patent number on the the 3rd gear stop ring at the least and the gears and shift forks were covered in assembly lube when I removed the cover.  When I purchased the trans it was strapped to a pallet along with a new GM pattern Lakewood scatter shield and a mopar A 833 to GM pattern adaptor plate.  It was supposedly built by this man's friend to put behind a 600hp Big block Chevy....hmmm.

The condition is very good.  The case has been repainted with a cast iron color.  There is some hemi orange paint showing underneath.  Oddly, this appears to be a 1968 or later transmission, however there is no serial, date or vendor stampings.  There is some wear ? and or modification to the synchros.  The main shaft and counter shaft gears are excellent and may be new? The input shaft has been cut down so it will require the roller type pilot bearing....$15.

Reasonable reserve...Nice addition to any car strip or street....Super Stock Dart...'cuda ...?
