From the drawing board of Charles Witholtz a famous marine architect, this vessel had its keel laid approximately four years ago in South Carolina.
The actual building was undertaken by a home builder who employed a number of marine subcontractors to install all of the mechanical and electrical systems. She is of cold molded construction with two layers of diagonally laid ½ inch plywood. Her hull and bow are glassed down to the lower edge of her garboards. Frames are reportedly long leaf yellow pine from the forests of South Carolina.
One can see from the pictures the fine joiner work which lovingly went into this vessel
Because of the owner’s illness she was never completely finished and transported to Maine where the owner’s son was in residence. She sat outside for three years completely covered but no additional work was undertaken to finish the boat. Approximately 14 months ago she was taken to Portland Yacht Services where all of her systems were, or are in the process of being brought up to ABYC standards
She is brand new and has never seen the water. Her Yanmar Diesel and Phasor 6 kW generator are under warranty for a year. Both engines were started this season and brought up to specs including the generator. She still needs some cosmetics, her deck cleats reinforced, paint on her decks, cushions, washer dryer, stove and reefer along with minor repairs to her bulwarks. She also should have her keel glassed.
Sea Hymn is truly an exceptional boat and would make an outstanding live aboard for a couple. Her decks are insulated; she has two heads with holding tanks witha large stand up shower, space for a a free standing refrigerator and is plumbed for a combination washer dryer.
We are offering her as is where is at our low auction price. With the money you are saving on the boat, you can either hire Portland Yacht services to finish the work, or you can do it yourself.
Her bottom is painted and she can launched tomorrow.
