1954 Nash Kelvinator METROPOLITAN Convertible NOT a reproduction - AN ORIGINAL! Almost like new - in excellent running condition !!
Kept in a heated, carpeted garage by an owner who loves collectors cars.
These cars were built for the Nash-Kelvinator Division of American Motors Corporation by the AUSTIN MOTOR COMPANY Ltd of Longbridge, Birmingham, England.
The coachwork was done by FISHER & LUDLOW Ltd, also of Birmingham, England.
These cars were built between the Spring of 1954 and August of 1960. Limited production - sold throughout the United States, Canada, and England.
They were still being sold in 1961 and 1962, but those were leftovers from the earlier production which ceased in 1960. The cars were produced in two body styles - hardtop and convertible.
This particular car was built in the Spring of 1954. The original color was a solid Canyon Red - but its current color - BLACK - was also an original color.
The original motor was the O.H.V. Austin A40 / 1200cc that developed 42HP. The current motor is from a later model Metropolitan and it is approximately 1500cc and produces 52HP - and it has LESS than 2400 miles on it!.
The body is of unitized airflyte construction.
There are fewer than 15 known 1954 Metropolitan convertibles left.
