I need to sell my Norton. Starts on the first kick... or you can just
push the button. I love this bike and hate to sell it, but I need
something for a regular commuter and I don't want to put all the miles
and abuse on this amazing machine. I bought this bike in 2005 with
about 10,000 miles on it. It had been garage stored since 1982, and I
went through most of it and changed all the fluids before riding it.
19,500 miles on the clock now. Brand new Avon rear tire, front is %80.
Freshly rebuilt gearbox. Brakes rebuilt. Carbs overhauled. Wheel
bearings and swing arm bushings replaced. Seat reupholstered. Starter
serviced. Ignition switch overhauled. Steering damper kit added.
Pea-shooter pipes. Tachometer rebuilt. Braided stainless steel rocker
feed pipes and brake lines. This bike is awesome, fast, classic, turns
heads everywhere, pulls like a train, perfectly stable and wobble free.
1975 is the magical last year for Nortons. It's the only year with an
electric start, left side shifting, and a number of other modifications
to what was already a great bike. Frame and engine numbers match.
Now for the bad things about this bike (not many, and not serious, but I want the buyer to be aware)
Fork seals are beginning to wear and leak a little. The right
cylinder has a worn valve guide (occasionally there will be a little
bit of smoke on start up, but quickly goes away and does not smoke
otherwise). The primary case has an oil leak (not a big deal to fix, I
just messed up a seal putting it back together and haven't gotten
around to fixing it yet. Necessary tool and a set of seals will come
with the bike). Side covers are steel. The gas tank is from an earlier year and is fiberglass.
I sealed it with caswell, but I did not put an epoxy coat on the
outside before painting, and a couple spots of paint have come off
where someone had done some clip-on damage. I have more paint to match,
as well as silver Norton tank decals.
That's it. I have the original factory shop manual (binder
version), haynes manual, and well as the original owners manual. The
bike also comes with a couple of spare parts and a few Norton specific
tools. Bike was laid down once at about 5mph in some gravel. The only damage resulting is a centimeter size scuff on the right exhaust and a slightly bent right foot peg. The brighter daylight pictures are from earlier this year. The dimmer pictures are from a couple of evenings ago in poor light. Overseas buyers ok, but buyer must handle all shipping arrangements. No returns, sold as is. I don't want there to be any surprises for the buyer, so I'm mentioning everything I can think of. Feel free to ask questions.
