If you have any questions please

I'm selling temperature gauges like the one on the left above.  The gauges were used or intended to be used in a number of WWII aircraft.  Most commonly they were found in the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, the Consolidated B-24 Liberator, and the Boeing B-29 Superfortress.   My B-17 instrument panel has identical gauges in it.

The B-17 is a high-flying, long-ranging bomber capable of unleashing great destruction while at the same time being able to defend itself.

With the ability to return home despite extensive battle damage, its durability, especially in belly-landings and ditchings, quickly took on mythic proportions. Stories and photos of B-17s surviving battle damage widely circulated, boosting its iconic status.

With a service ceiling greater than any of its Allied contemporaries, the B-17 established itself as a superb weapons system, dropping more bombs than any other U.S. aircraft in World War II. Of the 1.5 million tons of bombs dropped on Germany, 500,000 were dropped from B-17s.

The above picture is of the right hand side of the instrument panel of the B-17 Flying Fortress.  The top arrow points to the Oil Temperature gauge which has a range of -20 to +120 degrees C.  The Carb Air Temperature is located directly below the Oil Temp Gauge and is a similar instrument with a temperature range of of -50 to 150 degrees C.

The carb air temp gauges that were used in aircraft often had lines painted on their faces indicating "Normal" for a particular aircraft.  Some of the gauges are in more pristine condition - Because of this each gauge is just a little different than the other.

The picture of the instrument on the above left was taken using a black light.  That is why the nomenclature is so bright and the case is so dark.  The back of the same instrument is shown on the right using normal daylight for the picture.

These gauges were commonly used in WWII vintage aircraft with either 2 and 4 engines.  These instruments are mounted through the panel from behind and are 3 inch gauges.

I am selling either gauge for $19.95 cents each plus $8.95 for shipping and handling.

When purchasing please specify which gauge you prefer.  The Oil Temp Gauge with a range from -20 to +120 or the Carb Air Temp Gauge with a range of -50 to +150

All of these gauges have a phosphorescent nomenclature which makes glow very nicely under a black light -  Check out the B-17 panel when lit with a black light.

If you have any questions please email me at b52parts@msn.com and I will answer you promptly!  This item will be Sold and shipped only within the United States and Canada.  No international bidders & no funds accepted of non-us origin.   Please don't purchase this if you don't intend to pay for it within 7 days.
