1972 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS 442 TRIBUTE Keep Reading for the Complete Details on This Solid, Rust Free Cutlass with Less Than 40,000 Miles Since Completion. Odometer shows 128,000. But With a Fresh Engine, Transmission, Rear End and Brakes, This Car Has Been Owned and Garage Kept by Me for 25 Years and is ready to ship TODAY! This was my first car at 15 years old (circa 1987), that I earned by working for free in my uncles shop for several years. There have been years of sweat, blood, tears and $$$ spent on this car, but now it sits sadly in my shop where it's been for the past 10 years... occassionally seeing the road and only started monthly and brought to temperature. The fact is that times have changed and I have a family that takes up most of my time doing other things together, so...TODAY my loss can be your gain! Keep reading and don't forget to watch the videos below to GET THE COMPLETE DETAILS on this road-ready beauty! ENGINE: a 350 Chevrolet bored .030 over with 400 crank and rods (383 cid stroker). With a 280 cam with about .488 lift, it has a nice "lope" and is very streetable (3000-7000 rpm). A 650 cfm Edelbrock resides on top of a Weind dual plane intake. The heads have been matched ported/polished and have had new guide seats and valves/springs installed. This is a VERY fast and reliable car. TRANSMISSION: a TH-350, has 2500 stall converter with a 3 stage shift kit. It was built by ART CARR's shop in Las Vegas, NV. And has less than a couple thousand miles on it. It shifts crisp, quickly, and with purpose. REAR AXLE new 3:42 gears with a limited slip, final drive is about 3000 rpm at 70 miles an hour. SUSPENSION: bushings have been replaced with polyurethane bushings, has new springs, tie rods, ball jints etc etc. The wheels are aluminum Weld Racing stars. BRAKES: Front have been converted to disc, including a new master cylinder and booster. PAINT: painted in 1987, and it still looks great! However, it does show some wear. The tires have great tread, unfortunately, they are hard, and showing some cracks, they were purchased in 1999 in Las Vegas, NV. INTERIOR: started its life as brown, it was redone in 1990 to black. As a 18 year old kid, the carpet is new, but was not installed correctly--looks good but not as nice as I would do it today. The door panels were purchased from Year One, Inc. in 2001 and are a dissapoinment. The 442 center console IS NOT mounted or connected to the transmission yet. The radio is horrible, cheap $20 unit, used to have a rockin system in it (sill has the bass amp, and 12" kicker subs) but some punk kid tried to steal the car back in 2000.
