| up for auction, my 1948 oldsmobile woodie wagon,
I purchased this car about 7 years ago as a basket case, progress on the project has been posted on the national woodie club website, as well as several message boards on the internet.
I had intended for the car to be a keeper, as such, everything is done to the highest level of my own ability.
because I intended to use the car for long distance driving i have installed the following..
new 350 chevy crate engine and transmission with TUNED Port Injection
southern Rods Air conditioning setup
audiovox cruise control set up
air ride (front and rear)
high intensity driving lights, and power brakes and steering.
metalwork:
in addition to the framing that is part of the body.. (and mentioned elsewhere) the car features
extended firewall (which cleans up the engine bay)
custom inner fenders (which hide the wriing and a/c componants etc.. with louvered lower panels.
custom reworked front fenders that have been modified to accept peaked 53 chevy headlight rings that are turned 90 degrees.
reworked and remounted 35 gallon from a Gm van with fuel filler is in the stock location
exteranaly mounted electric fuel pump
Enigne and trans
motor is a gm crate engine with only a few hours of run time
trans is rebuilt th350
rear axle is a gm 10 bolt 3.08 posi.
front suspension is a 79 trans am clip and rear suspension is the stock oldsmobile trailing arm setup with air bags.
shifting id done via a gm steering column which is TILT TELEscoping, the steering wheel is a CUSTOM UNIT that I fabricated to resemble a 51 - 52 oldsmobile accessory steering wheel with RARE maar clock. the steering wheel is manufactured in such a way that the telescoping function is hidden from plain view, but is easily operable from the drivers position
the car is currently running and driving and could be driven onto a trailer for hauling,
as the pictures show the body is currently NOT finished. the roof and front header as well as general sanding and varnishing are necessary for all framing members. in addition all the paneling needs to be recreated,
the paint is Caddy Autumn maple metallic, wheels are 53 chevy (and although some photos show otherwise all four wheels are now painted SAND COLOR)
and the tires are used "rollers" however are in fair condition
windshield wipers are by speciality power windows,
front doors are fabricated in such a way that power windows were to be included within.
car features an aluminum racing radiator (summit) and a rechromed GRILL
front bumper is a narrowed stock bumper with reshaped centersection which has also been pulled closer to the body.
rear bumper is stock woodie wagon / convertable that was originally on the 48 oldsmobile convertable owned by denise sheldon.
all the pot metal side trim has been rechromed.
the lower rocker trim is included in the sale, however it is used and needs restored.
hood hinges are in excellent condition
hood has been peaked. and the hood ornament has ben removed.
