1969 Oldsmobile Toronado
| |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
1969 Oldsmobile Toronado. 53K miles. 455 engine, automatic transmission. Runs and drives great. California car. Straight body no rust. Clean title CA title and current registration until mid November 2009. Nice project to start with. Engine / Transmission : original 455 motor. Runs great. Smooth driver. 3 speed automatic front wheel drive transmission, shifts nice with no problems. Engine and transmission are in great original shape. Car runs good. New battery, alternator, radiator cap, gas cap, oil pressure sender and exhaust manifold gaskets. Body / Paint : Body of the car overall is very straight. It has been repainted a nice green at some point in its past before I got it. The body is very straight. It has a little damage on the hood (see pics) There is a small dime sized ding on the trunk lid. The driver side fender has some scratches on it (see pics). There is virtually no rust on this car. There is a very very very small spot, smaller than a dime on one of the lower quarters but that is all. The quarters, doors and lower fenders are all very solid. The trunk and floors are solid with no rust. The paint is nice overall but it is checking a little on the trunk lid and there are a couple spots around the car (hood and driver side fender) where is damaged or has scratches (see pics). The car originally had a green vinyl top. When I got it the viynl top was coming off so I took it off. The top metal was in pretty good condition with no major or penetrating rust. I cleaned it up and painted it with a black rust encapsulator paint. That will keep it from rusting and it is ready to have a vinyl top put back on it. I didnt do it because it looks good enough for me with the black paint and knew I was going to sell it so I wanted to let whoever buys it do whatever they wanted with it. Interior : The interior is in nice shape. It looks to be mostly original. The carpets look new but might be original. The seats are green with the original vinyl on the sides and the inserts are velore I believe or some sort of synthetic material. I dont believe this car came original with them like that but I guess it is possible. I think one of the previous owners had them recovered in the inserts and carpet. The rest of the interior is original and in nice condition for being 40 years old. The dash has one single line crack on it (see pics). It has the original am/fm radio which works good, and has 2 pioneer 6x9's. The driver side door panel has a little crack on it but it is still in good shape. The car has power windows, power door locks and power truck release. The power windows work, I will have to double check the locks, the power truck release doesnt work at the moment (probably fuse or something small). All the windows are in good condition. The car doesnt use the key ignition to start, it has a push button one, I believe the previous owner put this as an anti theft device. It could be relocated some where that cant be seen, and would be a nice touch. I have all the keys (ignition, door, truck). Suspension / Brakes : Car has original suspension and rides smooth. The brakes are original and stop good for a big old car. It has drum brakes all around. It has the original rims, but one of the hubcaps is missing. Matching whitewall tires in good condition with good tread. Lights : The car has new front low beams on the front. The flip up lights dont work. You have to put the grill up and down manually or you can just leave it up. I have the driver side blinker assembly which is currently on the car but not on in the pics. It works but it needs a new plastic cover. Currently the high beams dont work, I believe it needs a new switch. I never got around to replacing it because I never use them. It is an inexpensive and easy fix. A picture says a thousand words, so I have added a lot of them. Check them out and that will help you know if this is the car for you or not.
