DESCRIPTION

1950 Kurtis / Shilala Midget Race Car. With a very nice older restoration, This 1950 era midget is offered in excellent overall condition. Comes with a possible Johnny Rutherford racing history from 1963. It is powered by a four-cylinder, overhead valve engine with fuel injection. Its many features include a Vertex magneto, in and out box, quick change rear end, period gauges, disc brakes and a torsion-bar rear suspension.

We believe this could be a Shilala midget. George Shilala was the plant foreman at Kurtis-Kraft, the man who insured quality, and timely delivery of the product between the years 1945 and 1953 when he left to start his own company. The chassis that Shilala produced was virtually identical to the Kurtis-Kraft chassis with subtle differences which this chassis shows some of.

Midgets of this era were the epitomy of Midget Racing. Sleek, graceful and nothing more beautiful. Here is your chance to own a Midget to drive in vintage racing or just to admire it’s beauty!
