It was a concept car designed by Packard by one of their head engineer mechanics. He designed this one of a kind roof and took off some trim and detailed the grill. It used to have a 3/4 race flat head engine with four carb set up. Now the whole frame set up has been modified to a pro street set up with ladder bar, diagonal link, adjustable pro shock coil covers with a 1972 Chevelle front end. The front and rear frame has been Z'd 4.0" and the rear frame clip was narrowed to handle the 21 inch wide tires the shock tower was raised up 3.0 inch the body was lowered 3.0 inch over the frame.
The dash has been custom made with an aluminum center console built, 8- point Roll Cage made by Art Morrison, and the seats are custom made high back buckets by Ricaro in a gray cloth tweed pattern with RCI cam lock 5-point seatbelts. The doors were shaved smooth of all the trim around the windows and the door handles with electric locks were added and made by Ball Company.
The lower rocker panel body has been welded smooth. The hood was smoothed out and cleaned up. All of the trim and the corners were radiused. The rear trunk was also stripped of all the die cast trim and the bottom of the trunk lid was raised up 4.0 inches and the edges were radiused instead of lefted square. A custom 15-gallon harwood fuel cell was added in a full steel cage plus dual batteries mounted in the trunk. A sunken electric antenna was custom molded into the right rear quarter panel of the body.
All the body panels were hammer welded and lead worked with very little bondo as a skim coat. The roof was chopped 4.0 inch in height and the front "A" pillars were angled back 1 1/4 inches also the rear of the roof sits forward 16 inches more that normal from most Packard's which sets this special Packard Business Coupe apart from the standard Packard Sedan. The front splash apron in back of the bumper was custom made and the front bumper was chopped and welded and smoothed over with a lot of custom work to finish it off. The back bumper was also highly custom worked over and extended outward 3 1/2 inches.
The front grill is made up of a 1951 and 52 and 53 Packard grill to give it a unique look. The engine compartment was stripped clean and smooth over and lots of the engine components have been hidden to give the engine compartment a clean look. An electric windshield wiper has been set up instead of the old vacuum set up. The side trim on the body was also customized. The rear brake light housings have been modified and smoothed out. The fins were also removed.
The engine is a one of a kind special small block racing engine that IS STREET LEGAL.
Bill Mitchell in Long Island built the custom made long block. It is a 434 ci small block Chevy motor. The special one off fuel induction system was hand made by "BDS" blower drive service in California. The unique underlie fuel injection with its wild stack set up really stands out. It is fully computerized also with a BRAND NEW COMPUTER!
The heads are made by Hard Core Engineering from billet aluminum angle milled to 20 deg, 230 cc raised runners, 64cc chambers, crower valves 2.125" x 1.600" crower roller lifters and 1.6 ratio roller rockers, .680 lift crower roller cam, crower blue printed worked crank, Oliver parabolic 6.125" rods, 4.0" stroke crank.
