1967 Plymouth Fury 4spd
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This is my 1967 super commando 383 HP 4V 4 speed convertible with factory working A/C.It also has its factory dual exhaust,Power steering Power brakes Power top Super rare working factory tach,buckets console all tinted glass,etc.It is in the Galen Govier registry as number 3 out of 5.This is the only 4 speed.It is most probably the only 1967 Sport Fury convertible ordered with the HP 383 4 speed ,and a/c.There is no way to break down its production rarity any further than #3 of 5 as of now.Ive spoken to 3 Mopar experts besides Galen Govier and they also have never seen or documented another with this factory combination.I am not an expert,by any stretch and actually kind of fell into finding this car a few years ago.I knew it had to be rare but I had no idea how rare it is.I was told the entire drivetrain is factory original.The engine can not be.I found the block build date of 1969.I am the 3rd owner.The pad on front is stamped either C-383 which would be 1967,or its G-383 which would make it a 1971.I can not clearly make it out to be a C or G,no matter who I have look at it.I therefore have to say at this point,the engine is not original.If its not original it looks like its been in there forever.There are no obvious signs of replacement as is often the case.There are no cut wires anywhere at all that I can find on this car.Including the rare green tach wire that runs by itself through the firewll to the coil.It still has its original Certi-card with the original owners name and address,when it was ordered new in Kansas.It was special ordered by its first owner,not by the dealer.I have its owners manual also.I have not looked for a build sheet.The Galen Govier documentation goes with the car.The tires have under 1000 miles on them.This car runs and drives but needs a full restoration.Her carb,which dates to a 1965 383,either needs a full rebuild or a needle and seat kit.It seems to dump some fuel at idle.With this done,she could be a daily driver today.There is no smoke or noise at all from the engine.I replaced the valve cover gaskets and painted the valve covers the factory blue.The NJ title states mileage as actual at 45,000 or 46,000 I forget which.I doubt thats accurate but if DMV says it is well then so be it.Ive not driven her out of my driveway but she will easily drive onto any transporter.She has been off the road for many many years and can not be driven home.With the carb right she probaly then could.As stated above the a/c is complete and works,but is no longer charged.I was leaning under the hood with my elbow on a line coming from the compressor and it broke shooting its R-12 all over me.I replaced the line but never recharged the system.There are 2 new full quarter panel skins still in the box that goes with this sale.You will need only the very rear bottoms to repair the quartes but they are full skins.The undercarriage was factory undercoated.Meaning the frame rails and all that structure is factory perfect.The right front floor pan will need a small repair panel as well as a very small spot in the rear foot pan.The trunk pan has only a few tiny tiny spots where I would epoxy them.They really can not be seen in the photo but are on each side as the pan goes up towards the rear seat.The radio clicks on and you can hear the rotted speaker paper jump.Headlights tailights brake lights work.Reverse do not and I have not checked why.The original white top is complete but shot.The rear glass is perfect but I dont know how it can be reused.My reserve will not be revealed,but should EASILY be met.A regular guy like me will most likely never again have a big block 4 speed mopar convertible with a/c,but thats the way it goes.I know I wont have the funds to restore this car the way I want anytime soon.As she is right now,she wont make your wife jump for joy or impress the neighbors but what she can be, pretty easily, is what its all about.Please carefully inspect all the photos and know what you are bidding on.Any questions anytime.Thanks P-plymouth? On Nov-06-09 at 07:56:03 PST, seller added the following information: An ebayer asked me if a deposit is needed.I now realize,I neglected to require a deposit on my listing.I guess if you are not going to pay in full then you certainly are not leaving a deposit,so at this point no deposit is needed.However,the winning bidder needs to contact me with a phone number immediately after auction close.I also did not ask zero and low feedback bidders not to bid,as most listings do now since many,many people do not honor their committment.This being said,if you are not 100% sure you are buying this car, do not bid.
