BRAND NEW OEM VACUUM PUMP Fits:
Fits 7.3L, 6.0L and 6.4L Powerstroke Diesels Original Factory Part - NOT Aftermarket! - NOTE: Although this is an OEM part, the connector will be different than those on F-250 through F-550 pickups, Excursions, etc. The reason for this is that these were intended for the larger trucks. In all other respects, these pumps are exactly the same as the OEM pump on your truck and are the best quality available. If you are looking for the convienience of a plug-in and go without having to change connectors, we also carry an aftermarket pump with the correct connector - just visit our Ebay store by clicking here! What does this part do? This vacuum pump operates the heater controls and four wheel drive front vacuum hubs on your Ford Diesel truck. What happens when it fails? Your heater defaults to defrost only, and your four wheel drive may not engage if the pump does not run at all. The pump may also fail and run continuously - in this case, there may be a leak in the system which the vacuum pump can not keep up with, so it runs all the time. Disconnect the outlet hose and plug the connection on the pump with your finger. If the pump stops running there is a leak in the system - probably a broken line, etc. If the pump does not stop running when you perform this test, it is bad and needs replacement. Any system leaks should be immediately repaired or pump life will be seriously compromised. Does this pump fail often? Yes, this is a very common failure item - Ford issued a TSB number 05-17-4 to advise their technicians of this issue. Replaces Ford P/N 6C3Z-2A451-BA. Is it easy to change? Yes! Anybody with a few simple tools can do it! As easy as changing oil! The pump is located on the passenger's side inner fender between the battery and the blower motor. It is easy to get to. Just unbolt it, carefully dismount the old pump from the rubber "feet" and mount the new pump. Remove the original electrical connector, and install the two provided electrical spade connectors in their place. The black wire goes to the connection marked with a negative symbol on the pump. Apply a little grease to the terminals to prevent corrosion. Can this pump can be used for other applications? Yes! - vacuum control systems, science projects, etc. - It turns on when current is applied and generates a vacuum of about 17 in hg. It then shuts off until the vacuum falls to 13 in hg when the cycle repeats. It will NOT work to power your brake booster - it is too small! GUARANTEED! Please visit and bookmark our Ebay store!
