Best tool ever
I have some very expensive flaring tools. None are as easy to use as this one. When making,or at least trying to make, brake lines I measure them long because inevitably some have to be cut because the flares aren't right. Not this time, I had to cut them down in length because the flares were right and the lines were to long. I put new lines from the front tee all the way back on the wife's 57, not one leak. What would normally take me half a day I did in a couple of hours. The other set of dies for this are next on my list. Several companies sell this exact tool under their own brand, so do a little research and find the best price you can. I have a background in mechanics, old school stuff, and consider myself capable of doing anything my cars need but have never liked to make brake or ... I have some very expensive flaring tools. K Tool 70081 Brake Flaring Tool
I have done some brake line flaring in the past. The K Tool did not work right out of the box. The flares were shallow and uneven. . I called the company KTools and the gentleman was not even familiar with the tool. I believe the company is just a distributor or rebrander and doesn’t make anything. All they could suggest was that I call the retailer or send it back. I eventually determined that the flaring bit was hitting the bottom of the die before the flare was finished. I added a very thin washer under the dial head and that solved the problem. I am not sure why it requires this addition as every thing is well made of quality materials and precision machining, but it wouldn’t work with out the shim. Best flaring tool!
This tool makes flaring lines perfectly so easy. You almost can't mess it up. The only negative is it's next to impossible to use on a vehicle. The tool is designed to used in a vice. So if you're working off the vehicle, you won't find a better flaring tool. A bit pricey but soooo worth it!
