1993-ish Quicksilver
MXL-II Sport Ultralight
Here is a pretty nice
Quicksilver two-place. First and foremost, this is NOT N-numbered. So you will
either be flying it at your own risk or parting it out. Or, if you know
some amazing secret to getting it N-numbered... it's all yours.
The plane is much too nice to
be torn down and parted out. The engine is too nice and the plane is essentially
perfect, minus the N-number. I say it's perfect as in it's 100% flight-ready and
needs nothing to go cross-country. It's not in perfect condition, just imho, a
nice plane for its age. But I'm rambling...
The plane is 100%
flight-ready and up until yesterday, was flying regularly.
It has a very strong,
very tight two-carb Rotax 503 that was rebuilt approx 25 operating hours
ago. New plugs and carbs cleaned out a month ago. It spins a two-blade
68x30 wooden prop. The main wheels are slightly oversized and a custom
fender is on the nose wheel to prevent mud from kicking up. The tubes are
mostly in great shape, although some have minor oxidation. A tail-wing
brace kit was installed two weeks ago. It currently has a 6 gallon root
tube tank and a normal Wal-Mart 5 gallon tank on the axle that has an aux
pump that pumps fuel to the root tube tank. Has a Magnum strobe whose
driver unit was just rebuilt by Kuntzleman two weeks ago.
Has a basic Digitron display
for one-cylinder CHT that also shows tach. It's like a dumbed-down version of
the EIS 2000. Has electric start with a small battery on the axle. One master
switch, a switch for each magneto and a primer pump. Has a brand new UMA analog
altimeter, too.
The worst thing on the
aircraft are the main sails. They however passed a QS puncture test two months
ago and have been airborne since then. However, they are faded and have a
couple small tears in them that have been sail-taped. They will need to be replaced in 3-5 years.
As stated, it's a very
nice 100% flyable aircraft that very, very, very unfortunately was never
registered by the previous owner and is now obviously passed the deadline
you and I both know about.
